Speaking of 2DS: it already looks like a tablet, so, why not pack in some eShop games and see if that sticks with consumers?

To suggest the 3DS should have a price cut because the Vita has one would be like saying the PS4 should be cut because the Wii-U is being reduced. They realistically aren't competing head to head right now.

I do think Nintendo will hold back on cutting the price of 3ds as long as possible(obviously), and they need the money too. I think this applies to Sony too, with the ps3. The ps3 is overpriced(so is x360) because Sony seriously needs every dime they can get. I also think ms keeps the x360 overpriced because the ps3 is. Why be drastically lower when the competition isn't? But as of now, Nintendo doesn't really need a price drop, it's still blowing away the vita after all. Now if the vita starts to actually compete? You can bet Nintendo will be quick to drop its price...

Not exactly.  WiiU is already the "cheap option" so the order wouldn't be changed.  If Vita Light turns out to be the same price as regular 3DS then that could change things as far as price order goes.
