I was just randomly thinking about that vitality sensor announcement in 2009 and I was wondering if vgcharterz think that it could've saved Nintendo's console business or atleast push the wii to another glorious year. So, what's your opinion on the matter?

I strongly believe that we will see more of this kind in Nintendo's Quality of Life machine.
I think vitality sensor arrived to quick and wasn't reliable enough. The same happened to Wii - Nintendo wanted to introduce motion control for the gamecube, but they decided to leave it for another console. Great decission :)

Iwata is marketing the QoL as another product separate from video games. Kind of like how Sony sells video games and insurance (or used to?).

No no, I'm talking about the wii vitality sensor that was announced back in 2009 for wii and was supposed to launch in 2010-2011 but later got cancelled. Had they sticked to their original plan and launched it back then, do you think that wii would have remained revelant for another year instead of dying out very quickly?

Oh my bad! Yeah, if if the software for Vitality was interesting I think nintendo could have another Wii Fit because the market was still hungry for Just Dance.

What is the connection between Just dance and vitality sensor? :) cant's see any

Wii was still going strong in 2011 without any major release, really, what Nintendo needed to do was just continue to support the system instead of completely dropping support. I'm not sure Vitality Sensor would do anything if Wii's situation was like in 2011, you know, no games and everything.

I'm assuming Nintendo would market Vitality sensor and its bundled software to the mass market gamers that are attracted to games like Just Dance.

Oh... i was expecting the sensor to measure your heart rate when you work out in Just Sweat Mode that is in Just Dance.

Now, that would make it impossible to "cheat" Wii by just moving your hand instead of your whole body.
