If Nintendo makes the right decisions (hasnt been making them lately), they could potentially sell to 40 million....but who knows...I'm pretty sure Iwata already clarified that they will just need to sell as much as they can to make as much profit from Wii U as possible....he already knows it wont be a major success.

Absolutely impossible the wiiu sells 49 million. Your low should be it's high. My guess is 12-20 million. And 20 is being optimistic.....

The main reason why the gap is large (100% to be intact) is that we still don't know how the market will split between the Nintendo & Hardcore Consoles (PS4 + XB1). Last Gen, it was 60% to 40%. This gen, I am expecting to be between 80-20 or 90-10, and this 10-20% is what makes the range vary. The wildcart here is

a) How influential / gimmicky is the WiiU Gamepad is

b) How Japan reacts to WiiU vs PS4 dilemma

Things should be a lot clearer at the end of this year, or possibly even earlier, sometime after the PS4 release in Japan.

Even their worst console, Gamecube sold 22 million in less than 5 years. We're talking about a 7 year long generation here, and their biggest hits haven't even come around. Also the market is a lot larger now.

I'm thinking wii u will sell at least 40 million. It has some learning to do and some customer awareness to overcome. Once they figure things out and consumers see Nintendo specific software they will receive decent numbers to finish the gen.
