It's a strange situation when higher resolution only serves as a way of illustrating low quality textures and low poly environmental models even more bluntly than standard screenshots.
as thumbnails they look fine, but natively, it looks like a friggin late gen ps2 / launch gen 360 game, even with the settings maxed out.. dear lord..
I was actually quite excited for the PC version, thinking I'd get some use out of my high end hardware, but after seeing these I'm almost tempted to cancel my preorder :|

I was thinking the same thing except I haven't preordered it. I wouldn't be playing it on that high of a resolution anyways.

Just wait for it, someone will chime in and tell me these arent final textures and the retail game will look much better than this... only for it to release and look the damn same, and even if they did bump the texture quality a bit, that geometry is eye wateringly last gen, doesnt matter what wrapping paper you use on a box, it's still a damn box.
Consider my buzz for titanfall well and truly killed.
Frankly with visuals like this, it actually makes me worried that the xbox one is struggling to keep up with the framerate at the resolution its using, its either a testiment to the underpowered hardware or a testiment to trying to release a next gen game on the dated and defunct source engine, take your pick, either one doesn' help matters in the slightest.
I posted this already in the Zarx thread.
Anyway, I run the same resolution, so it's what I should expect in regards to how bad it would look.

Honestly, i think those textures and geometry would look like ass even at 1080p, which is pretty much the average for pc gamers these days.

Yeah, I agree.
It's pretty solid proof that despite the Source engine "hanging in there" it's really starting to show it's age.
Then again, it's also a great engine if you wan't to develop a game in a short amount of time to rake in the money.

All you need is the right market, for example if you had a platform hurting for a "defining game", and a platform holder hurting for good news and something to take the focus off of negatives, and willing to pay big money to publicise it, you could just use any old engine you've had experience with and slap something together.
As a primarilly PC gamer, i can understand why xbox one and xbox 360 fans are looking for Titanfall to be a smash hit, lord knows a decent game has been a long time coming for xbox fans now, but i think that need is being abused somewhat, the wool, as they say, is being pulled over peoples eyes.
Take away the heavy marketing, and the link to "by the team that made COD", and what you end up with would have flown under the radar.
I feel as we get closer to the release of this game, more and more disappointing information trickles out...
It's sure not going to be the titan we thought it would be! ;D
