Forums - Nintendo - The Wii Remote not capable of 1:1 motion

Girls might be capable for 1:1. Hope they are also capable and willing for 1:2.

I've read that the Nintendo Wii is not capable of detecting 1:1 motion from the Wii Remote unless you use the pointer. The Wii can only detect relative motion from the Wii Remote. So there could never be a 1:1 controlled sword fighting game.

That's too bad.

I've read that your mom is not capable of detecting 1:1 motion from the Wii Remote unless you use the pointer. Your mom can only detect relative motion from the Wii Remote. So there could never be a 1:1 controlled child bearing game.

That's too bad.

Wait, can the PS3 do 1:1? I don't quite understand what that means, besides if you head the Wiimote like a sword if would mimic what you did on screen. How is the PS3 capable of that?

And for the Wii, Zack and Wiki had a sort of 1:1 sword fighting, and didn't Red Steel do something similar? And I think Star Wars: Force Unleashed is going to have something like that. Not sure though. Not sure what exactly 1:1 would mean either though.

...unless your either A) make a game in which you only fight against air or B) have some sword wielding device in your living room no device will every be 1:1 because there is no way to simulate the resistance of actually fighting against something.

phail.

This thread is hilarious. I heard that the Wii only has 1:1 control if you put a Wiimote in each sock. They are making a 1:1 kicking game. It's called KickMasters. Also this can be used to make realistic running games a la NES powerpad games.

Remember it's 1:1.

1 to 1 control is not a limitation of the technology as much as it is a limitation of motion control ...

Regardless of how steady you hold your hand there will always be movement which can be registered by the Wii Remote; this means that you must register enough of a motion in a single direction  in order to cancel out this noise. Realistically speaking, you probably need 1/4 to 1/2 of a second in motion in a direction before you can accurately detect motion in that direction.

SHIT!!!!! What will all the people that gloat about how many 300 games in wii bowling do now knowing that it wasn't really their skill that got them a 300?!?

So what do you win if your prefered console sells more than another?
