GM7 and 8 (I think 6 too) could make 3D games. But yes it's limited to the pro version, I had that. Never bothered with Studio, since it isn't really any better than the old, and the worst thing is that it costs like $100 when GM pro costed $20! But that was in the old days... when Game Maker wasn't as hugely popular.
I've used Game Maker for almost 10 years now, since secondary school. But I haven't used it the last 2-3 years, because I've stepped it up to Unity. In my prime I made around 7-8 finished games a year, back when there was time for that :)
80% of the games I made were 2D platformers. Began with GM6 in 2006, but I had tried it out around 2004. Many games I made with a friend had 3D functions.
Sadly none of them are on the internet nowadays, and a few are lost. A few of them got a little popular too!
Yep.
I'm working on something similar to cod's nazi zombies, but in 2D/top-down perspective. As of now I only have a half dozen sprites, 1 room (ground floor of house) and some basic movement and shooting mechanics. I'm planning to add a basement and 1st floor, melee weapons, more gunsand maybe perks, which will be unlocked as you progress.
