I personally think that Pachter is partly right. I don't own a Wii-U (and would most likely only buy Nintendo games for it but just because there are no good 3rd games available that can compete quality-wise) but I bought more than 60 games on former Nintendo consoles. And almost all of them were made or published by Nintendo.

The reason is just that Nintendo's own games are too good (which can easily confirmed by metacritic reviews), so 3rd party developers have a very hard time to compete in quality. Why buy a bad 3rd party game when you can buy a better Nintendo game instead.

Gameboy: None of my 20 (or so) games were made by a third party company, since all Square and Enix JRPGs were published by Nintendo.
SNES: None of my 20 (or so) games were made by a third party company, since all Square and Enix JRPGs were published by Nintendo.
N64: only two of my 15 (or so) games were made by a third party company (Turok 2 and Turok Rage Wars).
Gamecube: one of my 10 (or so) games was made by a third party company (Soul Calibur 2).
3DS: None of my 2 games was made by a third party company.
Dreamcast: 2 of my 10 (or so) games was made by a third party company (Soul Calibur and Metropolis Street Racer).

PS2: All of my 10 (or so) games were 3rd party because Sony's 1st party games cannot compete quality-wise, look at Knack as a recent example. There really is a huge quality gap between Wild Arms and Zelda and between Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario.

Since I like JRPGs, I bought a lot of 3rd party games on my PS2, since the PS2 has no good 1st and 2nd party games all, at least none that could compete in quality with Nintendo's best games.

The problem was just that Nintendo games were of a much higher quality, so why buy 3rd party crap? On Sony's consoles you have no choice because Sony does not make any Nintendo-quality games that I could like.

On the other hand, if there are no good 3rd party games to buy, you will not be able buy them. If there had been good 3rd party JRPG titles on N64, Gamecube or Dreamcast, I would wave definitely bought them.

Cherrypicking a game, and then stating all the rest as fact. Also, I love the logic of made by Squaresoft and published by Nintendo as a FIRST PARTY GAME.

You know what? Nintendo fanboys are the problem.

If he wanted RPGs, then he clearly kept on backing the wrong horse.

True, sans very few games post-SNES. I wish I saw that, but then again, I was blinded by ignorance.

Any sensible person should know by now that you Never blame the customers.,
I glossed over it and it looks like a frustrated person's rant on Nintendo Fanboys, which make sense because it's a blog post.

Why, nothing can beat the SNES Libary of good JRPGs. Even today several new fan translations of Japan-only titles are being released per year and there are quite a lot of these translations scheduled to come out in future.

And of course I also imported and played games like Chrono Cross and Dragon Quest 7 on the bleem Emulator, since I didn't own a PS1 as the N64 had far more good games because of Rare (Goldeneye anyone?)

Nintendo also makes a lot of crappy games, but I always pick cherrys on any console and Nintendo's cherrys are the best.

It is all my fault. I should have bought shitty third party ports.

...and I agreed with that article 1000 fold.

Says it all IMHO.

So people seem to agree with the article uh? So the reason why the Vita doesn't sell at all is clearly because the consumer doesn't want the product... right? They should support it by buying more and more games!

I bet Sony doesn't have anything to do with the Vita's problems.

So true. Nobody buys 3rd party crap because Nintendo's own games are the best on any Nintendo plattform. http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/3ds?sort=desc&view=condensed

Sure Sony can be blamed for the failures of the Vita due to not having either 1st party or exclusive 3rd party system seller.  Nintendo can be blamed for not having system sellers for the Wii U in a timely manner.  However, Nintendo fans can't be blamed for not buying shitty 3rd party software.  Third party games are rewarded with good sales usually if they are of decent quality.  MH3 and RE4 on the Wii sold pretty damn well.

I don't like debating this on the internet anymore, Id rather let sales numbers do all the talking. And they do.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

So who is responsible? The customer or the company?
