Forums - General Discussion - Panasonic Wii-proofs plasma TV -- lol

 Source

"Panasonic has designed a plasma TV especially for use with a Nintendo Wii games console.

The company designed the set after reports of screens being smashed when the Wii Remote flew out of gamers’ hands. The remote features motion-sensing technology which players use as a virtual racket when playing tennis games, for example.

Panasonics new set is designed to absorb a hit on the screen with up to four Joules of kinetic energy, thanks to a special transparent coating sprayed on the screen.

Sounds like a good unique selling point for Panasonic, although the wrist strap that comes with the Wii remote seems a simpler solution.

Panasonic has not yet released details on pricing or availability of the Wii-proof set.

Other manufacturers are also coming up with products to protect screens from Wii remote damage - a Taiwanese manufacturer has designed a specialist LCD TV Wii shield."

Actually, doesn't sound like a bad feature. Not necessarily for protection from crazy wii throwers but, from general protection of the screen itself. I have kids and know I will buy a screen gaurd when I decide to get a new HDTV.

wow.
I may tell my dad. He's planning to get a Plasma T.V, & I got rid of my wriststraps.

Would be cooler with a TV with a built in Sensor Bar.

Predictions for December 31st 2008:

Cool... that's a lot of force it can withstand.

XD.......And I agree wih Explosivo..

The built-in sensor would be cooler.
That's true I think this T.V. would be greatly protected in general and not those non-handling Wiimote jackasses with no hand-eye co-ordination and no physical feel for the remote!

Not really, that would be like throwing the wiimote about 9 mph.  (granted I don't know the exact weight of the remote).

Everyone needs to jump on the 'Built-in Sensor Bar' bandwagon to make it happen! :)

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
