Forums - General - The problem with UFC is there's no domination

Sports need a strong, dominating figure, or at least the possibility of one. For proof, witness that Mike Tyson is still a legend, despite arguably never being that good (if you actually analyze his record). Why? Because he was so dominant for a short time. It was national pastime to talk about his amazing feats for a while "can you believe he knocked his opponent out in the first round again???". For another, Tiger Woods in golf.

One thing I note about UFC is it seems kind of random. The champ in any given weight class usually doesn't last very long. It seems fights have a high degree of basically random outcomes. This prevents much continuity from developing. In a sense it suggests a sport where skill is not as much a deciding factor as some sports (lets say, boxing comes to mind, same few guys dominate for much longer).

I'm sure there's exceptions and they will be pointed out, but, yeah.

Yeah this is a sports topic, but that forum seems dead...

Arrianny Celeste dominates...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Anderson Silva dominated the middleweight class for seven years. GSP dominated the welterweight class for about six years. And it looks like Jon Jones is going to dominate for quite a while too. Those are the major weight classes there. Not sure what else you could ask for.
