There's also Aishiteruze Baby (Baby, my love) about a guy who has to take of his five year old cousin (cute anime), or Fruit Basket, though this one relies a lot on comedy.

Oh yeah and there's also Mushi-shi very good anime same kind of Haibane Renmei.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days

 The Place Promised in Our Early Days was pretty good.  I would suggest Voices of a Distant Star as well.  My friend got a pack with both those animes and they were both very gorgeous to watch, especially The Place Promised in Our Early Days.

I had a few friends that simply hated it because they felt it was too boring, but I thought the animation style was beautiful for a CG produced anime (and what a lot of them should look like) It was cool to find out the director made the first one (voices) on his home computer.

Are you looking for stuff to buy... or just watch? If it's the latter, then I heartily recommend the very recent Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which is being subbed by fans as we speak. Official DVD release will probably happen eventually.

Howl's Moving Castle was pretty peaceful i think, its also my favourite anime!
