Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Mergers And Acquisitions? What should Nintendo Acquire?

This is one of the less talked about news snippets from the meeting.

“…Mr. Yamauchi (former President Hiroshi Yamauchi) often said “Shitsui-taizen, Tokui-reizen,” meaning that we should act regally when things are bad, and be calm when things are going well.” Were he alive now, he would tell me to carry an air of confidence. We built up cash reserves when earnings were strong. Because the entertainment industry ebbs and flows in wild swings, Mr. Yamauchi insisted it is vital to have deep pockets. Without savings, we could not have recovered from a single failure in game systems. Even now, we can afford many options because of our robust financial standing.”

“We should abandon old assumptions about our businesses. We are considering M&As [mergers and acquisitions] as an option. For this reason, we’ll step up share buybacks.”

While I don't know about Nintendo itself being accuired, I think that Nintendo should actively buy other studios, companies, and most importantly, IPs. We always talk about how Nintendo needs better third party support, but it doesn't. What it needs is more games. Instead of wishing for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV, just buy Square Enix. (Just kidding. Doubt they can afford it) Become the true Disney of video games that they were destined to be but kept fucking up.

So my question to you guys is this; What do you think Nintendo should aquire? Then, what do you want them to aquire?

Take the popular suggestion of Sega. Aside from Sonic, and Persona, what IP's could they really financially benefit from? I feel like that's more of a want than a should.

Should: Capcom

For me, I think that should buy Capcom. I wouldn't be comparitively a huge investment, and it has extremely valuable IPs. Exclusive Street Fighter, Mega Man, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry would be invaluable.

Should: Hello Games and Platinum Games

I think Nintendo should buy Hello Games and Platinum. In my opinion, No Man's Sky has some of the biggest "next gen" potential. Snatch it up, Ninty.

Should: Take-Two

This one would be crazy controvercial, but entirely possible. Nintendo should buy Take-Two. With this, Nintendo would own GTA, Bioshock, Borderlands, XCOM, NBA 2K, Midnight Club, and Red Dead. Those are scary powerful exclusives to have and has massive western appeal. Nintendo has the money, and the only reason not to do it is the massive internet shit storm that would follow. And seriously, why should that bother Nintendo? Buy them, and let the continue business as usual.

Want: Square Enix

I want them to be able to buy Square Enix. It's not that I think they don't have enough money to buy them, but that they won't have enough left over to make it a worth while investment. It's the same with Capcom otherwise. It has extremely valuable IPs. Exclusive Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Theif, and Hitman would again be invaluabe.

EDIT: Updated with more

Platinum

Sega cause they will get Altus with them and both of them are Mega publishers... Making every single one of those games Nintendo exclusive will be jizz worthy

Capcom is great but lets face it, they havn't made a good game in a while... Same can be said for Sega but not Altus

And Sonic still has a fanbase, blind fanbase that get excited for every game than get dissappointed right after but a fanbase none the less (Don't mean anyone in this site btw)

Nintendo and PC gamer

I think Capcom would be a good acquisition. They could clean up their practices while also absorbing their large IP's. This would also lock in Monster Hunter, which would be great for Nintendo.

Square Enix is a nice wet dream.

I was just saying that financially, Capcom is the safer bet. Regardless of any personal opinions of the games, Capcom games sell better than Sega ones, and the games are still good.

Street Fighter 4 was good, REvelations was good, appactently Monster Hunter is good (not my cup of tea), DMC... Platinum Games could re-revamp the series? And if Sora LTD made a 3D Mega Man game after Smash 4? I just can't contain the excitement.

Lol, exactly what I was thinking. Capcom it realistic. Square Enix? Only in my wildest dreams.

That would give me a good laugh.

Also, I forgot to mention that Sega would be alright. But wouldn't Sammy not allow that?

Might not be about gaming. Could be about their lifestyle stuff as well.

All they need is Mario amirtire?
