Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy Tactics’ Spiritual Successor Might Come to PS Vita, PS4 and 3DS

Overwhelming request has signaled a potential victory for Sony gamers.

Launched onto Kickstarter last week, Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is a promising spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics, equipped with a designer and composer who worked on the legendary strategy RPG. While initially its crowd fund was only aimed at bringing the game to PC and handhelds, Sony might win a big console exclusive with its release.

Following overwhelming request by gamers on Unsung Heroes' Kickstarter page, Playdek has added PS4 support as a new stretch goal. Below are the new stretch goals:

  • $1 million: PS Vita port
  • $1.25 million: PS4 port
  • $1.5 million: 3DS port

Whether or not the fund reaches its goal of $600,000 there will be an iOS and Android version. However, it's very likely to reach its primary goal spurring a version for PC, Mac, Windows Tablets, and Linux.

The game currently stands at about two-thirds of its goal with 23 days to go. Reaching 1.25 million won't be easy, but would be huge for strategy RPG fans and especially those who grew up during the PS1 days and are now stuck to their PS4. Some forget that the original Final Fantasy Tactics was on PS1, although its The War of the Lions PSP port would fare extremely well 10 years later.

Unsung Heroes: Tale of the Guardians looks to be birthed from the same DNA as the ever-popularFinal Fantasy Tactics. Its medieval-fantasy style setting housing rewarding strategic combat is something the next-gen scene could benefit greatly from.

Why are these kickstarters so much more expensive for Nintendo platform? Specially the 3ds which has a higher potential to sell more than the ps4 and the vita as of right now and many games have sold more software wise with games like gunman clive and Mutant muds... like wtf

Not supporting this one thats for sure

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Guys, you need to support this project if you want the game on your platform of choice. I went for the PS4 version, but i've donated 1 dollar so far :D

I up my contribution in the last 24 hours, that way i won't lose much if the kickstarter fails to gather the needed funds.

It's more expensive because Sony is not billing those indies as much. Development on 3DS isn't more expensive, Nintendo just does not have the same program in place Sony does.

There already is a spiritual successor, it's Tactics Ogre.

Could be tough. It needs more media presence. That would be the second great kickstarter game for PS4 after Project Phoenix.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Projects like this normally get a big push towards the final 48 hours. I reckon $1m is within reach at least. Which is best stretch goal, ofc.

Has anyone donated anything?

LOL Really!?!? It's so much superior to FFT, aside from story....more character types, more skills, more strategy, better synergy of classes...
