Did any of you defend BP when they claimed they didnt know what the contractors were doing at the oil rig?

This is kind of irrelevant for 2 reasons.

1. BP admitted they were partly to blame for the oil incident.

2. I don't think it was selnor's intentions to absolve MS of all blame in this situation. After all, if Company A signs a deal with Company B for a service, and company B then makes a deal with supplier 1, 2, and 3, then Company A still has some responsibility for what 1, 2, and 3 are doing. No one is denying that.

Rather, what his point was, is that all the ridiculous vitriol spewed at MS for this was unwarranted. Lets get one thing straight. The only really shady part of this whole thing was that participants were not required to put disclaimers in the video or the description. Nothing else about it was out of the ordinary for what really any big company does (and looking at the past history of Sony or Nintendo, even the lack of disclaimers is not really out of the ordinary, which is just another reason why the shitting on MS was funny).

That said, it now turns out MS was unaware of the disclaimer element. Does this cleanse them of all blame? No. Their legal team either didn't read the paperwork, or didn't read them well enough. It simply makes them guilty of general incompetence, not the hilarious stuff we have seen said about them over the last couple days or so. But will all of these people spewing this nonsense about how terrible MS is for the industry, how diabolical and unethical they are, how none of this should surprise anyone because it's "M$", will they come in here and instead direct their vitriol towards Machinima? No. Most of them are now insivisible and the ones in this thread are in full conspiracy mode.

Or maybe selnor was tired of being called a fanboy, a shill, basically a moron for not shitting all over MS for this incident? Well turns out he and the others were 100% right for refraining from that practice. Because, after all, the only "terrible" part of this is the lack of disclaimers, right? And that was not a MS decision.

This is pure gold after the over reaction and fake concern from some people here, trying to shit on Microsoft simply because its Microsoft.

Pure gold. Hilarious. And this is coming from a Sony guy.

Can we call it "concern trolling"? I like that. Concern trolls.

You are no Sony guy. And Microsoft found it important enough to address this issue for a reason.

Ive been a Sony guy since before you even joined this site, bubblegamer, anyone who knows anything about this community would know that

The reason Microsoft found it important enough to address, being everyone was talking shit about Microsoft.

There are 2 things I know about Carl.

1st: He is the one with the sexy redheads.
2nd: He is a Sony guy.

bullshit? it's true whether you want to accept it or no.

Flamingwhateverishisname merely used it as an excuse to bash microsoft and he got called out on it. then you have some people defending him just to rile the situation up. and you dare looking at me, get a grip

How dare I look at you? Hahaha, fucking get over yourself.

It's not a matter of acceptance, it's a matter of actually happening, before that happens I don't know that, nor do you, you want to believe that because all your contribution is here, is generalisation and spewing hate towards Sony fanbase. Now you get a grip.

you quoted me....

anyway show me where i generalise or hate on the sony fanbase....

I can step in here, Kirby loves me, and I'm as traditional sony as you can get, I am wearing a sony bathrobe right now, even.

it's the strangest thing, but I really do

This thread turned out like everyone knew it would.

If Selnor created it, all of the Sony Fans will come in and claim some type of evil M$ doings or that whatever #'s are being debated are made up by M$'s PR team.

The few M$ fans will debate the points for no reason as the arguments are biased anyway.

A few Nintendo/no particular affiliation people will agree that the Sony fans are being stupid.

Within a couple of hours, the thread is over and the original point of the OP is lost to meaningless VS arguments.

OT : I do believe that M$ signed a contract with Machinima to provide services. I also believe that M$ had an understanding of what was going to be provided. Did M$ study Machinama's contract to the end user? They might have. I looked over what has been put out there and it seems typical NDA type stuff to me. Most of the people on the web have no idea how to read a contract or what the various terminology really means anyway.

For the most part, this whole thing is much ado about nothing.

That sucks to generalize like that

Also On Topic:

This is something EVERY big company does...the bad part is right now MS is at the center of internet attacks and don't need any more bad PR. And with all the internet tage of course people are going to point the figer at them. Also yes this is damage control and sure most of us be it Nin/Sony/MS fans know this and know they knew what was going on. Is it bad sure is it something big...nope it is done all teh time so let's just chill folks.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

So why would Machinima do this? What would they gain from doing that? I just want to get a clearer explanation.

VGChartz ladies and gentlemen, VGChartz.

Eh, I simply found it really funny that something as major as the BP oil spill was being brought up in a thread about Microsoft, Machina and YouTube. As in a "Only on VGC"

the impact of the oil spill is irrelevant. The point is that playing dumb didnt work.

Thank you for staying on topic.

I know Im an over eager Fanboy poster. I am really trying to be subjective though now. Really. But I have to say, even with Machinima on their own clearing Microsoft of any involvement, people here and on other sites carry on.

The hate for MS is rediculous. Thats why theres so few MS left on VGC. Its sad. :(

Please refrain from the victimization, every fanbase deals with the same thing.

OT: regardless of whether anyone knew or didn't know, damage is already done, and machinima should be fined, or both.

BS. Its not about every faction dealing with it.....its about the scale/magnitude, which is very far apart.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

The aggression xbox fans are feeling right now has been years in the making. Perhaps people should have thought about this back when things were good instead of being condescending and belittling. I'm not naming any names, but I have had quite a few conversations of people confessing to me how bad they were going to give it back once ps was in a better spot.

I even made a thread a few years ago...maybe 3 years ago that said the hdtwin fans should unite and try to get along against nintendo. Basically the same console and games, so let's just get along, and such. Nope, it was thrown in my face, I believe the words "desperate" were mentioned.

Reap what you sow.

Again, not pointing any fingers at anyone. What's done is done, so deal with what is doing.

You've done a remarkable job at changing. You stumble sometimes, but I honestly think you're a good contributor now. You're humorous, don't take things too seriously, and can pick your battles. You used to have this elitist flair that's mostly evolved into a confident swagger, which is so much better.

@selnor
But there arent ten ms fans
I can name 10 just off the top of my head
Selnor
Darkrequiem
Endimion
Kirbs
Kowen
Jaywood
Nightwing or whatever his name is
Jlmurph
Sales
Seece
Darth tigris
Gergroy
Fallen
And many many more

Lol, I am a microsoft fan?  Well, I do like xbox and will get an xbox one, but the x1 is also the only new system I dont own.  I am a fan of all three companies, or more specifically, I am a fan of gaming.  So while true that you could say I am a ms fan, I just think it is funny that I am being cast as just a ms fan.  Especially since the x1 will be the last system i buy this gen.

No offense intended gergroy, I simply see you post more about ms than others. I am friends with lots of xbox people, and I'm a sony fan who owned both a 360 and a wii before ps3. But people call me a Sony fan.

I simply don't get along with many xbox users because I tend to call things like I see them and then get into arguments about whether kinect2 being bundled made sense. I'm sure it's no different from yourself, so again, no offense...it's simply my viewpoint.

Lol, either way, at least somebody on this site knows that I exist.  This is probably the first time somebody has actually refered to me, so kudos for that

I agree, that the situation is true is what makes the generalization suck.  The generalization isn't really about Selnor, as much as it is about the few people who try to report or start m$ related threads.  I get that people feel the need to "pick a side".  It's just too bad that they also seem to be unable to use reason once they have.

It is near the end of the end....
