They have Retro Studios, a develpment studio that made the Metroid series into the highly regarded First Person Adventure it is today, and the most recent Donkey Kong Country games. The have HAL Labs, developers of Kirby andSuper Smash Bros. They have Monolith Soft, Level 5, Inteligent Systems, and many smaller development partners. But should they invest in some new ones?

I don't think so. The one thing I never see people argue is that Nintendo doesn't have great first party studios and games. I think the money would be much better invested in a place they're lacking.

If they invest in more 1st/2nd parties than its possible they can support there consoles without long droughts that have plagued them since N64.

It's not that they don't have great studios, they have a lot of talented ones, but a new one can aliviate the "need" for a new IP or a revival of an existing Nintendo IP (like StarFox for example).

They should have bought Altus... I think it was a huge miss for them to not buy them since they would have had so many exclusives quality on their library that it would make Sony fan's panties all wet... Oh well, I guess we should count the days till Sega dies and Nintendo buys them as a double pack...

But yea, they should get some more new ones... Maybe get Platinum games cause they do make pretty good games... Its clearl that third party went lolz on them so they need to get the games on their own hands, at least for the next console in 4 years...

I think that may be unnecessary. Nintendo doesn't need to buy or create new developers in order to create new entries in dormant franchises, or new IPs. In the past year, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and The Wonderful 101 exemplify this fact.

They may need new ones to fill in where 3rd parties refuse to support.

Even then, I think it becomes a matter of what would be more cost effective: Nintendo footing the bill for exclusives, or starting new developers altogether.

But we shouldn't pretend like those are mutually exclusive. Microsoft in particular is using this strategy.

what they needed to do is retain those n64 IPs and bought some of the THQ IPs during the sale. Hell even should have bought Mortal Kombat as they don't really have a fighting gaming (apart from smash).

Then their be a good reason to start a new western studio.

They don't need new studios, what I see them doing is letting other studios develope and use their Ip's like
hyrule warrior for example, this option is much cheaper than just creating a new one
