Forums - Gaming - Magically, all Square Enix's western duds are getting sequels

With news of Watch Dogs 68 million dollar budget (which is not bad for a new gen game from Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed took 20 million in 2005/2006 dollars), individuals and fans forum wide started speculating that high budget games will be the tipping point that will cause the gaming industry to crash...

Last year, Square Enix blasted their western games for underperforming on the sales front (largely due to Square Enix's unrealistic expectations...a common theme from Japanese companies...see Nintendo) but LO AND BEHOLD in the last couple weeks we have heard from their major western studios with winds of change....what is this madness?!

I/O interactive: new Hitman is back on after reports of the game being cancelled a day prior (week of January 6th 2014)

Crystal Dymanics: Tomb Raider profitable as of late last year, new game into development from August 2013

Square Enix Europe/Unite Front Games: Sleeping Dogs sequel schedueld for 2014.

Makes you wonder why the sudden sea change.  It has to be the fees SE is raking in from Dragon Quest X and Final Fantasy ATB.

Around the Network

Why, it's almost like those games didn't really perform that badly at all and Square-Enix was just trying to shift blame from their disorganized and inefficient Japanese studios!

The amount of resources they spend in "linear" "turn based" games with a lot of "CGI" videos makes me wonder are they living in 1990s? They can learn from level 5 who showed how to make a good JRPG. All an all I wish them best of luck because I really enjoyed tomb raider and sleeping dogs.
