Forums - General - Are you bored of CGI animated films?

I been having this thought slowly grow in my head through out the years as new animated films release and I was thinking, is anyone getting bored of CGI movies or maybe it just me. I know CGI is more cheaper to produce (base on what I read), but to me most CGI films are starting to feel the same, especially with Dreamwork. Not bashing the animation format, just saying, most of them are starting to feel the same. I even notice this trend with Network channels....well mainly Nickelodeon. Share your thoughts.

I don't want CGI to go away, I just would like to see a balance of both format in theater for each audiences.

I apologizes for the triple post, ....not sure what happen there >.>

I dont watch all of them so its not so bad, but i see where you are coming from. They all have the same art style so its getting stale.

With that said, Despicable me is pretty good (those minions!) and i like Wall-E aswell for its originality and conveying a story with hardly any dialogue.

Bu yeah... i look at despicable me, and i look at say the incredibles and its the same art style.

I would like to see some new movies with different styles of animation. It would be nice to see modern versions of the drawings/art of the classic Disney movies like the Lion King.

no

Oh I wish we would go back to classic Disney movies.

...but the market has spoken, they´d rather see the fancy new cgi-"Frozen (700 million box office) than the wonderful ,mostly handdrawn Princess and the frog (250 million).

I am bored of films. But i appreciatte Animation becuase they rarely use guns/sexuality to sell.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Nope but I wish Disney would make more than at the rate they are doin ;(.

A CGI Remake of every disney classic would be awesome for me *_*

Bah, they look fantastic as they are.

I never want to see a computer generated Balu.

Yuck.

I actually prefer cgi to classic animation. I'll take How To Train Your Dragon, Frozen, Toy Story, Monsters Inc., etc, over any classic animation movie.

Depends what kind of CGI.

Mixing CGI with anime can be a disaster like the first Berserk movie. I could barely sit through the first 15 minutes.

I also miss classic animation. The art style can't be compared to CGI, it is way more charming and has more soul imo. I don't mind CGI, but after 20 CGI movies in a row, it gets stale.

By the way, to all those above who said they would pick CGI over any classic animation movies... The Lion King is way more beautifull and is a much better movie than all the CGI movie you can name (yes, including Toy Story)

The Lion King is the greatest animated masterpiece of all time. Nuff said.

CGI animations are getting old imo, every single animated movie is CGI and I'm getting really tired of it.

I don't understand what's so hard about making animated movies in both 2D and 3D. I guess 2D doesn't sell well anymore...

The last movie I can think of that was 2D was the Disney one with the black princess (can't remember the name) and that was like 5 years ago.
