This is why Iran want's nuclear weapons they only have to look to there neighbours Iraq and Afghanistan to see what happens when the USA declares you evil and you don't have nuclear weapons to stop an invasion, 100,000's dead and then civil war.

The days of Ahmadinejad are over. While I still see Iran as a repulsively oppressive country, as I do with most middle eastern countries, they are no longer a threat. Rouhani even extended the Olive Branch to Israel, only to have them throw it back in their face.

How can we call Iran a threat when they have done nothing, yet ally ourselves with Israel has genuine started wars overnight.

But the US does need a blank cheque for combat. It needs a blank cheque to combat poverty in it's own damn cities before it worries about anywhere else.

Don't really understand what US gains from letting Israel screw them around.

Some Americans think that if Israel gets its way, wholly and completely (which basically involves razing the Dome of the Rock and rebuilding the Temple of Jerusalem), then it will initiate the End of Days.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

You know what would stop wars completely? A giant bomb that kills everything on the planet.

OK but I mean the people actually in charge of policy.

It combines with what PDF said. The uber-Christians who believe this sort of thing have powerful friends in lobbying who make sure that politicians will always back Israel to keep their own jobs (though not completely, since America's been actively working for a two-state solution since Clinton, and that initiative did continue under Bush and through to Obama)

Upgrading this solar system to a type-1 civilization needs to be done - by any means necessary. I'm still not sure if USA is the right vessel to use in order to make it happen, but it's currently our best option.
