Now EA has had a rocky few years with 2013 being an absolute clusterfuck with disaster after disaster. SimCity started off the year in a bad way with it's busted launch and stiped down features and alwayse online requirement (which is now going to be removed) it was a PR disaster. And it only got worse from there with a string of flops (FUSE, Army of Two, Crysis 3 etc), NBA Live 14 missfire, Command and Conquer's developer being scuttled and the game being rebooted before release, some backlash over Plants vs Zombies 2, and capping off with Battlefield 4's implosion that has spawned 3 separate lawsuits. And now it seems like a lot of people are jumping ship or being pushed.

First Popcap lost Jeff Green a high ranking member of their social media arm. Then Criterion Games co-founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry leave EA to found a new studio. Followed by Chillingo founders Chris Byatte and Joe Wee soon after. And now EA VP Jeff Brown has left the company. And lets not forget that Bioware's founders also left late last year. And of course early this year they got a new CEO after  John Riccitiello was ousted in favor of Andrew Wilson.

Now with all these high profile people leaving EA, what can we expect to come of EA? Is it a fresh start after cleaning out the old guard, or is this the biggining of the end for EA as the rats abandon the sinking ship?

Were their financial results bad?

the guys that failed the games left and will be replaced. Doesnt that mean the changes are for the good?

If the financials have been bad, I expect more milking, microtransactions or mobile games, because the entire industry have decided that that's the way to make more money, and I don't expect the new people in charge to think differently. Perhaps close some studios, kill some poorly selling franchises (maybe NBA Live again), buy new studios and/or franchises and that's it.

So far it has been mostly people from their relatively successful studios like Criterion.

Didn't they lay off 10% of their workforce last year?

EA is secured by the EA Sports franchises always selling and Battlefield 4 and Sim City despite their issues, sold a ton as well. Everything else is just a bad year for them, and hopefully they will come out stronger.

 I think their main issue is they are aligning too strongly with MS and loosing some key talent in the process. They also most negative on Nintendo which doesn't go un-noticed by the Nintendo fans and simply speaking EA is stupid to ignore the success of 3DS. I think EA is right to minimize any kind of exclusive support for Wii U, but they should at least be porting their EA Sports and other staple games to Wii U where those can sell 100k+.

For 2014 I expect that TitanFall on X360, PC, and XBO will sell a ton for them, and I also think the Need for Speed movie will do pretty good for a video game license based movie. Aside from that it is anyone's guess on what else will/wont be successful for EA.

They are well deserving all the backlash from recent years, but sinking? If that happens then gaming industry is sure to follow.

They have done alot of destruction of the industry. There were some good companies out there before they got fucked up by Electronic Asswipes. And No it will Not get better.
