Digital sales?

Anyway, decent sales I guess though I'm not sure it will have paid for the high budget. The budget was reportedly $27m

That probably doesn't include marketing which would probably mean a small loss

I guess with Heavy Rain making money, they'll get another chance to make some money. But you can't keep supporting studios if they don't make any money

I would say that that includes the marketing budget. Most likely the game already recouped its cost.

demo.  soundtrack.  dlc.  ..but no game.  sole reason i have bought it already to be honest.

i got kind of excited to see it on psnow though.  might be how i play it.

Cool. In my opinion the scrutiny it got from "critics" was generally hypocritical and undeserved.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Nice to see this game selling a million and i hope it gets even more so we can get these kind of new experiences again from developers otherwise developers will not try to risk for something new.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

sweet. i have yet to play the game but at least this game didnt lose money with these sales. i hope it can reach 2 million lifetime.

I think Beyond is about to break even or has already. It is still on the market so there is plenty of time to make money off it, Heavy Rain made a lot of doe:

"These projects have been and are profitable, to some extent," he said. "I'll give you one example that I know about: Heavy Rain. Let's say it's $22 million to produce. With marketing it's maybe $30 million. With distribution, $40 million. Sony earned $100 million with the game, so it's very profitable. It's the sort of margin that most publishers would strive for, for any game."

Production of Beyond was higher due to the star actors, but the marketing seems to be a bit lower than HR, its advertised less than HR back then which was pushed as the next big PS3 game, I think the total Beyond budget is around 40 million too.

This game was actually better than what I was expecting so it deserves it

Nice to hear. Still need to give this a try.

Goddamn! A bit undertracked, then?

Makes me wonder if VGC updated its numbers just now because last I saw it was at around 600,000.

Nah, last time I checked (a couple days ago) it was at around 900k iirc.

So, they re-updated it to add 30,000 is the past couple of days? Seems like they have access to GFK and NPD numbers too.

The December 28th Global Update brought the sales up to 930k.

OT: Very glad to hear this. PlayStation definitely has a nice fanbase for these kind of games. Over 4 million sold between this and Heavy Rain. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sony finally buy Quantic Dream now.

Good to hear. It had its slow moments but I must say I was extremely impressed by this game. Graphics were unbelievable for a PS3 game. Quantic is in a class by themselves--easily more impressive than Naughty Dog's offerings though the environments were small. I constantly found myself in awe at the detail and character animation. The story was unique and captivating, too--even though I didn't like the main character much of the time. I'm in the minority but this is my PS3 game of the year.

Gonna go back for Trophies and play it in chronological order, soon.
