This is 2 years old and MS did not lie back then either. ethomaz had one of his crazy conspiracy theories back then as well... and he was proven wrong, but kept grasping for straws. Just like he does now with the yield issues everybody is waiting for to kick in.

OT now... Even if MS is lying about sales, it's not something that would surprise me. Company have little to no moral values. they lie all the time. Sometimes in obvious, some in inconceivable ways.

Let them lie. What's the big deal? Will they make X1 worse or PS4 better?

The press release on Xbox.com claims "sold to consumers".

They are locked out with this line of argument since Black Friday.  

Since Black Friday in the US the XOne outsold the PS4 all the weeks but the week before Christmass, when PS4 received a large shippment to Amazon and Walmart.

Xbox One is available everywhere and is still on top 10 bestsellers at Amazon, the only place online the PS4 has been available in the last week.

The number of Xbox One sold through to customers in 2013 will always remain an estimate to an extent. I really don't see the fact that someone is claiming that the estimated number might be 100k off to be a big deal. Especially when the source is unidentified.

I don't think they could legally get away with lying about 200 fucking k.

 I feel like it was readily understood it was probably somewhere in the 2.9 range though, nothing wrong with that and pretty typical to round up for these kinds of numbers. Still pretty fantastic numbers, especially compared to the 2.2 or 2.3 million the Wii U was at at Dec 31st 2012, which itself wasn't even a bad launch (not a great launch either though, just a pretty alright one).

the only reason why it would matter is to say what sold faster, the Wii or XB1 (according to VGC Wii sold 2.9M in 2006). but really, 200k doesnt really matter.
