just stop with your bullshit. it wasnt a minority. MS preorder numbers were getting killed before the 180. everywhere you looked. MS knew if they didnt change they would get slaughtered. simple. as. that. if you want to be mad at anyone it should be MS for not giving people a product they want, failing to advertise the product to convince those people and finally completely scrapping their vision to cater to the MAJORITY.

We know nothing about preoders numbers.

It is a minority. 7mi people that have bought the nextgen are less than 2% of lastgen console market and less than 0.1% of global population.

Steam has close to 70mi users that are ok with DRM, they can´t resell, lend their games. Netflix killed video renting and, together with Amazon, is killing disc based sales.

I just fell in love with my kindle paperwhite, and I can´t do shit with the books I´ve bought besides read then anywhere any time as long I am logged to my Amazon account.

PS: For more insights in how information is the matrick of value, not the midia in it´s inside, please check this book.

The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood [Paperback]

James Gleick

Majority of steam sales are when there is sales so prices are cut. It's hard to argue with DRM when you are paying under $5 dollars on average per game. I'm at about €3 average per game. Never payed more than 20.

If there was a game version of netflix I'd used it. Watching a movie on netflix is nothing like buying a full priced game.

Books are completely different. Once again completely wrong.

Hilarious except for PS now wasn't the whole console. If it were, I'd say Sony would be in some big trouble.

FALSE. "Now" is not a noun.

Seems like you're taking it way too seriously. I think you need to live more in the now.

*shakes fist*

Damn you Badgenome!!

??? Argument holds no water, the number of people who have bought next gen are not the only ones to buy, again prove it was a minoroty? Nor does that have any bearing on the sheer number of people whi may have been interested in x1 and simply hated the direction MS went in IF it was a minority MS would not have budged, corporations do not budge for a minority.

I repeat, it is MS job to market and get the message out about its product so consumers want it, MS failed, it is their fault. Stiop trying to blame the consumer for MS mishaps.

Steam was a digital only platform from day 1, where pc gam

Also steam works offline, where PC games are pretty much gone from shelves, Consoles are huge Retail boxes, where people trade in games daily, another useless comparison. Ms policies also required online daily for games to work steam does not.

Vocal minorities for the better or worst do affect govermental and business policies.

It´s a very long explanation but think in the civil rights movement, or pro/anti gay marriage groups, or clima change.

A vocal minority works as a awerness and opinion diffusion.

90% of the target market for the XOne wasn´t aware or didn´t care about the 24h check and used games restriction. It took only a small number of well connected people to transform those policies in terrible and catastrophic implications.

Look at "global warming" promoters, 20 years ago they were a very small group of scientists with very little evidence and not verry accurated computer models. However they won the hearts and minds of general scientific comunity. We are still waiting for the 4° incrise in global tempetures they forcast 20 years ago, and the famine, desiases and other desisters the vocal minority used to show awarness.

Today even extreme cold is blamed to global warming. No evidence in contrary is accepted. Call then deniers or funded by "big oil".

 Back to gaming.

Nothing anyone says or show can disprove that the XOne is a good product and is doing very well. People still are waiting for massive failures in Hardware and Software. If you say otherwise, you are just a fanboy.

The fact is we will never know if XOne would fail if they sticked with their initial goal nor f Sony could have sell more than 4mi.

Have you been without internet for more than 24h straight?

My family lives in the countryside of Brazil (eventhough in the most developed region), and for the last 3 or 4 years they never went more than 24h without 3G signal. It´s a terrible internet conection, no stream is possible, but its always there.

Some times the energy goes down for half a day, and I can still talk to my mother using Skype in her notebook.

i went without the internet for over 3weeks and live in one of the largest cities in the US.

Wow, i have never heard of anything like losing service for monre than a few days in any major US city.  Usually, that is connected to a power outage due to some weather event.  In which case, a person wouldn't be playing any games anyway..

I would find another proveder or atleast cancel your dial up internet.

It is near the end of the end....

Microsoft fault for not managing their massage is unquestinable.

I´m not blaming anyone else. The vocal minotity success is the proof MS failed to do their job.

PS: Vocal minority wasn´t composed of consumers. It´s was web celebrities, youtubers, "jornalists" and alike. EX: Angry Joe and Marcus Beer.

Yeah but it was not a minority...prove otherwise, but you cannot. Making baseless assumptions is not fact.
