Forums - Gaming - Kaz Hirai: PS4 is a “True Object of Sensation;” Setting a “New Standard in Gaming”

I do not want a true object of sensation when I buy videogaming machines.

While i get what you're saying, if Sony thought they could have made more money by going to Cloud-based system, i'm sure they would have fully implemented that instead of the Ps4 we have now. Also with PSnow, They'll probably have Ps++ (or some other moniker), that gives the subscriber access to multiplayer, free games, and the huge back catalog they've built up over the last 20 years.

Like I said, they'd have seen the reason to build a PS4 as a fallback. For starters, not every country will be able to stream gaming content. That requires internet with decent latency.

It could explain why it took so long for either Sony or Microsoft to announce this gen (longer than usual), because they were weighing up their options.

I'd say PSNow will incorporate PS+ functionality (not fully, but it will be similar). Multiplayer games will just be one massive server instance with multiple views transmitted to players, which will eliminate a lot of crosstalk between instances of games, as well as eliminate cheating.

Don't forget that even after buying Gaikai and deciding the project for quite some time (years) just now they will release in USA and in Europe they just say the internet isn't good enough.

Not good enough now, but how many countries are in the process of fixing this? Just like what's been happening the past 15 years, you'll see internet adapting pretty damn quickly to the demand of corporate interests...

To say that PS4 on PSNow "will not happen" is just plain short-sightedness...

It will happen after PS4 is strong enough when PS5 get released.

Or several other factors...

Once again, just saying it wont happen isn't reason enough, especially when money is involved..

- Release big console to much fanfare/sales

- Make console redundant a few months later by announcing cloud service that can play exclusives on any device...

That's not what happened, though.

The market doesn't work in a way of "instant reaction with an announcement"

I know that diehard console fans like to think otherwise, but no...it doesn't

Give it a little time...

He's the CEO, what else is he going to say?

"Hey guys, our new console sucks, don't buy it"?

True story

I know he wasn't the CEO but we all remember what Don Mattrick said xD

And you reason to believe it will is just cause of reasons??? Playstation Now being available in all platforms would be the same as in the case you just refuted a second ago.

Not even Iwata would say that about the PS4.

The higher ups in Sony/Ninty/MS seem to have been relatively civil to each other of late, which  is a nice change from the mudslinging of a few years ago.

Sure, ignore the points that I've already mentioned. Ignore that software is a much more profitable business venture. Ignore the fact that R&D will become obsolete, or that your userbase isn't being replaced with each generation. Ignore the fact that seamless upgrades can occur, or that the userbase would be significantly expanded. Ignore the fact that greater publishing control can be obtained, piracy and cheating would die, new avenues can be opened (such as rental or pay-per-play).

But no...our arguments are apparently on similar grounds because of your argument that it wont happen

Get real....

Of course. I'm waiting for the sales to drop below 50k weekly. It will be in 3rd place weekly soon enough.

You missed the point I made that it would not only affect Sony...
