A solid 90 also reviewers these days only give 95 to video games that try to be movies or social justice white knighting shit.

Thats not strictly true.

Quantic Dreams games have next to no actual gameplay. Yet scored well. Naughty Dog games are as linear as a piece of string with repetitive gameplay and score amazing. All these games are cutscene heaven and cinematic. Ryse is that same cloth. Repetitve gameplay with strong pont of cinematic story. Yet scored rubbish.

I think its only Sony orientated cinematic games that seem acceptable

I must say as someone who has played and enjoyed Ryse. The score it got is fine I would not give it more than a70. It is nowhere near the level of Uncharted or say Heavy Rain for example if you ask me. Naughty Dog games while being linear and having lots of cutscences and stuff are FAR more polished than Ryse was.

Again I enjoyed Ryse and it is a BEAUTIFUL game but it is stale, the gameplay and controls are not as fluid as theys hould be and the story is mediocre. Just because I enjoyed the game and feel that it looks great I can see why it scored rubbish. So it is not only "SOny orientated" cinematic games that seem acceptable, it is just the ones you mentioned are better games....as far as scoring goes.

I dont want to deviate the thread to much.

But I enjoyed Heavy Rain and TLOU to to an extent. But reviewers easily overlooked the broken stealth ( where your allies stand in plain site whilst you cower in cover, or your allies run around stuck in the visibility of the enemy ) Or the simplistic nature of the puzzles where if you stand around for a few minutes the game tells you what to do anyway. Basing the entire score on the characters and story. Which I thought was ore polished and impressive in Ryse. Especially the animation and voice acting.

Naughty Dog games have great gameplay specially Uncharted 2, their games are the perfect mixture of gameplay and cinematics. Quantic Dreams I don't think they are great but at least theres enough gameplay to be considered a game I was actually talking about horrible garbage like Gone Home or Dear Esther.

Ryse was just shit that was its main problem, shit gameplay, shit characters, shit history, great graphics.

I understand and get your point. The animations and voice acting in Ryse were indeed top notch. The story however was not it had huge portential and just fell short. As far as the broken stealth in TLOU us that was not broken at all. It was INTENTIONALLY made to be like that, it was part of the design. Only your character would tip off the enimes and seeing as the game was more of an action/adventure(stealth) game of course the puzzles were simple so that shouldn't have been a big deal. So no the score was based on the enitre package because it did what it set out to do VERY well and better than other games that tried it.

Ryse on the other hand while they TOTALLY delivered in graphics...they kind of fell short almost everywhere else. Hence the reason the reviews were like they were. Again doesn't mean that the game can't be enjoyed...heck I enjoyed Knack but I also can see why it got the scores it got. But yeah again I see what you mean, I will not derail the thread on this anymore.

Again though I think Titanfall will do VerY well with a meta of around 80-85 and I still have not seen anyone saying it wouldn't. Did someone actually say that? Like can you show me who said it or whatever because again I have onl seen people saying that it is not their cup of tea, it looks like COD with Mechs or that the sales of the game on XBO will be hurt by it being on 360 and PC.

It's ugly.

That's a pretty decent reason.

Aside from that, its subject material predominantly addresses a very tight core of young male gamers.

Not sure others will find anything much to amuse them.

In fairness, and Im proabably in the minority here. I thought Uncharted was a far better game than TLOU. The first being my faveourite overall. The 2nd was great till the imo unneeded filler of the cave bit after the crash. The 3rd was pretty good but had a boring first 2 hours. Ryse wasnt perfect for me, but my thoughts on it are HERE

Thats weak sauce selnor, we all know you haven't played it. Watched some youtube videos more like it, or the classic "oh I played it at my mates" line you always pull out.
