Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's your favorite platformer?

Oh my word! You all have all majorily dropped the ball here and forgot a great platformer....

APE ESCAPE!!! The PS2 and PSP versions were junk until they finally game out with Ape Escapre 3 for the PS2

Ape Escape for the PS1 was just fabulous. Put that one in your editorial Rocket Pig.

Mario is great of course.
Others I enjoyed: Adventure Island, Spyro, Crash,

Hm... a few that spring to mind are Earthworm Jim, Buster Busts Loose, and Goemon's Great Adventure.

Ok. Mario obviously. In fact I'd go so far as to say Galaxy is better than 64. Making it the best game ever made. But as for less popular Platformers, my vote definitely goes to Space Station Silicone Valley for the N64.

It's a fantastic platformer based on highjacking different animals with special abilties. The graphics might be quite poor (even for the time), but there's some pretty good art design behind it.

The game came out to great reviews but sold like crap. That makes me sad.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Jak and Daxter........... no obscure ones really

favorite.... probably super mario brothers 3, as it's one of the most complete/flawless games ever designed.

others (which are still pretty well known):

crash bandicoot: warped (best of the series)
jax and daxter (more of a straight platformer then parts 2 and 3)
rayman 2 (which gets no love anymore)
jet grind radio (gamerankings lists it as a platformer.... which I guess works cause it's not really a racing game)
maximo vs the army of zin (ghosts n goblins.... in 3D!)
donkey jungle beat (donkey kong country.... with bongos!)

As for a game that I liked when I was younger but was critically panned: tonic trouble for the n64.

I'd say Spyro (the Insomniac ones) and Ratchet and Clank. I've never played J&D =O

Super Mario Galaxy FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!
