Forums - Gaming - Sony named 10th most innovative company. Where is Nintendo?

According to the list, compiled by BusinessWeek and Boston Consulting Group, Microsoft ranks as the fifth most innovative company in the world, with Sony placed eighth and Nintendo checking in much further down the line at number 39.

You have to remember, this isn't the list of the most innovative "Videogame companies" it is the list of the most innovative companies. The difference may not seem huge in gaming circles but I'm certain that Microsoft and Sony have placed so highly on the list because of things they have done in different divisions than their gaming division ...

Go Sony!

 ohhhH!!!

some good news for sonians!!!!

these are kind of news sonians need to justify thier 600$!!!!

they are in top ten of a magazine!!!

 now I have a reason to buy a ps3!!!

Uhm... yeah. Sony is there not because of the PS3, but because of there other good products, like TV's and labtops. If you notice, Microsoft is #3, not becaue of the Xbox360, but because of Windows Vista. Nintendo is there at #39, which is impressive, seeing as they are ONLY dedicated to making games.

Let's talk about who's dicked over the consumer.... hmmmm.....

Microsoft makes a console with a really really high failure rate, so much so that many people are on their 4th 360s, is that not dicking over the consumers???? I think it's a lot worse than what the PS3 does in that area.

Let's move on to Nintendo.... They delay a gamecube game, the new Zelda long enough to launch it with their new console to essentially force people who want the new Zelda that was ready on the Gamecube to buy the new console to play it and for a while there was no info as to when the GC version of Zelda was coming until Nintendo realized they will leave money on the table by not releasing that and they did.  Dicking the consumer maybe?

Microsoft goes ahead and charges 100 dollars for a 20 gb hard drive while charing 40 bucks or so for the tiny memory card, does that make any sense? or is that not dicking the consumer? Now they release a 120 gb hard drive for 180$, once more overpricing it to the max...

Nintendo  Somehow isn't able to ramp up production and the amount of Wiis sold per month is not going up month to month, aren't they ramping up the production to meet the high demand? Or are they not doing that to keep a demand going for their new console over time rather than selling many more in one month. Dicking the consumer maybe?

Obviously you missed the entire point of my post.

Whoa u get to call me a Sonian when i got blasted for calling ppl nintendogs whereis the justice in that. Besides i have a wii i just dont like it much ( keeping it for Brawl). I dont need to justify my ps3 purchase cause it was a gift. and you know what it shipped with a dvd player, a bluray player, online games on day 1, A music player, a browser, no crappy party games or gamecube ports, GOOD graphics, wifi, a hardrive, And a controller that doesnt eat batteries.

Why do all of you people freaking care so much? It's good Sony is number 10 right?

OH WAIT NO ITS NOT!

Because YOUR company Nintendo is number 39!

Why do you people care so much? Honestly with every single console Sony has put out ive had almost endless fun.. sames goes for nintendo but thats where it ends.. at CONSOLES..

Sony offers excellent TV's labtops etc... anything electronic Sony!

For you people to even say ... " OMFG their number 10 this justsifies 600 dollar price tag/ saracasm "

To me the 360 is a  just price..

But 250 for old-gen looking games with a new way to play them? Get real! Dont bother replying saying " WII MOTE IS SOOOO INNOVATIVE" Motion sensing was used before but they revolve their entire console around it...

Please Nintendogs please dont reply or attempt to flame me..  to sum it up...

Sony is an excellent innovative company that offers things in a wide spectrum of things from consoles to tv's...To say otherwise is well your opinion...

Nintendo is innovative CONSOLE company!

Yeah I must have because your complaints were very negligeable about the other two consoles while seemingly saying Sony is much worse than the other two and yes Xbox marketplace prices are insane for tiny pointless things especially.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The Nintendo Wii may be innovative, but it is not innovative in a good way. In the same way Pokemon and Rubix Cubes were fads, so is the Wii. Some of the games are extremely innovative and fun, however Nintendo will not get those seemless controls in 3rd party games. Not to mention, several games out now have very weird controls. The Wii is what would fall under the definition of a 'gimmick'. On the other hand, the 360 and the PS3 both bring some more functioning to a game, but at the same time improve significantly on visuals (which is just as important as realistic controls to bring one into the game). The hand based controller at this time is a winning setup, and until I see real motion sensing (VR, things involving more than flapping your heads), it will keep being so.

Why do people cheer a company? 1 Answer - It's called VIRAL MARKETING :P
