Forums - Gaming - Bethesda says Fallout 3 50%-80% the size of Oblivion

Oh, and if there are vampires in Fallout and your character can contract vampirism in-game, I'm driving straight to Bethesda HQ and kicking somebody square in the nuts.

Lmao. Hey, as long as they don't have a glitch at the worst possible spot in the game I will be okay.

Vampires are stupid! Nut kicking is deserved and allowed if there are some.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I completely agree with your other fears, but I also really don't want Fallout to feel empty and soul-less like Oblivion did. Yeah, there was a huge world in Oblvion. 90% of it was just trees and rocks with nothing interesting to discover. I don't mind a huge world in Fallout, but there should be lots of ruins and things to search through and discover stuff in.

Also, if there are vampires, I'll pick you up and take you to Bethesda myself.

Yep, and this is going to apply x10 to Fallout... After all, you are in the middle of the ruins of a huge capital city in this game. There better be loads of stuff to check out. If there are just piles of rocks everywhere with wolves constantly jumping out to attack my ManBearPig character who has to hold a torch the entire damned time just to see farther than three feet, I'm gonna be pissed.

The sewers were the fullest part of the game... well okay, that's an exaggeration, but seriously.  The world was 90% featureless empy forrests.  The majority of Oblivion's world was generated from the same few bits of code of trees, grass, rocks, and hills.  It's a trick commonly used in MMORPGs, since they need large worlds and don't have time to program them by hand.  Oblivion's world is just large for the hell of it.

You played Fallout? Put our fears to rest then.

Unfair comparison. LO, like most other JRPGs, isn't really even worthy of the RPG monicker.

On the other hand, love it or hate it, Bethesda games are the truest RPGs one can find in videogames. They are the true descendant of the pen and paper RPG.

Yes, and I play video games to play video games, not to play Pen & Paper RPGs with an awful combat system and uninspired generic world designs.

Anybody seen the teaser trailer that starts out inside a tube radio? Can't wait for this game. I think it could be up for game of the year.
