This is the game I will be buying a new console for, not that my expectations are high, just hope it's more like DAO than DA2, yet keeps some of DA2 faster paced combat.

Also:
"The main storyline completely playable from beginning to end."
Err.. I'd hope so. Why wouldn't it be?

EDIT: I've noticed a few people say about DA2 being a good game, and it was a good game, compared to others but compared to DAO it was missing so many features it felt lacking. Repetitive environments, lack of companion customisation, conversations with them, only 1 race to select from (with a voice). It could have been more.

Oh and the dialog wheel, my god, it was the worst thing about it. In DAO you didn't know whether your chosen sentence would make the character angry or want to bang you, you had to guess and think. The dialog wheel in DA2 took that all away, conversations were one dimensional and boring... want to persue love with this character? Choose the big heart, no challenge at all. Want to make a whitty remark, choose the middle. With a main character that has a voice it limits the dialog choices and ruined a part of DAO I really liked, the conversations, learning about characters, learning about the world.

Hmm, pie.

I still think this should be PS4/X1 exclusive rather then both this and last gen. (PS3/360)

Did you even play the other two games? Beeing able to import your save is a meaningful feature that makes it essential to have a current gen version. At least for fans.

Its  a bit like Mass effect 3 having launched on next-gen consoles only. Doesnt really make much sense.

I know you're looking for a justification for the next-gen console purchase you probably made, but you're gonna have to be a bit patient. Their time will come, but its not next year. Buying a console at launch should be a long term investment, not an excuse to do away with the other consoles just cause you bought the new one.

I'll keep an eye on this, DA1 was a really good game and DA2 was good in its own right.

But Bioware can't keep releasing DA titles on PS360  long term. There has to be a way of transferring game history from last gen to current gen. If not then the PS4bone versions of DA:I will bomb HARD.

my girlfriend is pissed that this isn't coming to the Wii U (although fingers crossed if sales start to pick up...)

and because of that this game is probably going to be the one to make me get a PS4

My DA games are messed up, my original file was lost play throughs after the first game had different results, DA2 was the same, whatever I imported didn't seem to make much difference either, things were mentioned but that was it.

So file import isn't really a concern for me, not like it was for ME. However, they did launch some special feature (in Beta testing maybe) which was to be used to replicate your choices in DAO and DA2 and import these changes to DAI for PS4/Xbone releases.

Great solution. I just hope it's available through PSN/XBL and not just Origin via PC. And I hope they do allow actual save game imports as a starting point for the keep, even if it needs tidying up and tweaking to eliminate conflicts and bugs. I have multiple plays that I want to carry across to DA:I and using the Keep to re-create them all down to the last choice sounds like a lot of work.

Origin Accounts can be associated/connected with PSN and XBLive accounts, I got some free DLC via that.

I did actually, I am one trophy away from the plat on both games and I played all the DLC for both. As far as the import save file system, it was never really note worthy or a step forward like In Mass Effect. Like others who have replied before me, there should be a way to transfer game history data or even choice selection import on the new gen. (sort of like the Dark Horse Comic in ME2 for PS3 before the trilogy was released)

I'm not looking at a purchase justification for a next gen console. I have yet to go "next gen" and will be playing my PS3 for the majority of next year with all the jrpg's releasing for it. However, with DA I want to see the series grow past the sour taste that DA2 left in people's mouths. It's a new engine for a new game on a new gen. I really feel that a PS3/360 version will only hold the series back from a critical review stand point is all.

I dont know how that can be done, as you cant transfer files between consoles.

What im thinking/hoping is that like Mass Effect 3, theres some sort of temporary closure and we can have a fresh start for the new entry. Maybe a different age/new blight.

I see what you mean. That is indeed a good idea for the choices to transfer to next-gen. I dont think the game beeing exclusive to next-gen would help with its receival though. End of the day, its gonna be about the story/character/gameplay. If anything, it would be the final nail in the coffin if they focused too much on next-gen graphics and failed to give us a quality game.

They are making versions for both gens, so its not like anyone has reason to complain. The game will also receive more exposure this way, and if it redeems the series after DA2 left some people down, its best that a bigger number of people knows about it, then just the early next-gen adopters.
