And then Halo 2 revolutionized AND popularized online gaming for consoles.

Halo 2 didn't really popularize online gaming on consoles, Project Gotham did. Halo 3 did for shooters on consoles. Its still the highest selling Halo of all time. Once COD:MW came out it put Halo in its place.

The ONLY reason we accepted paying for Xbox Live back in the day was Halo 2 lol definitely the best time I've had on OG Xbox. Halo 3 was amazing for the 360 but Halo 2 was the original Xbox Live's year long swan song before the 360 came out.

I agree that Halo 2 was the swan song but Halo 3 made people go crazy for online gaming which indeed was the truer revolution. The majority of Xbox gamers didn't have Xbox Live. Microsoft made the 360 more focused on forcing the online experience which was genius because Xbox Live broke even early during the 360 era (according to Michael Pachter). Xbox Live on the 360 made online gaming damn near manidtory. On the Xbox you had a choice and got to enjoy a solid experience without Xbox Live Gold.

It definitely was the only monster of it's time. And yes, Halo 3 is the reason Xbox 360 is an online gaming haven, paving the way for COD to explode on 360. Which says a lot considering it was the only console of it's gen that had you pay for it.

007 was legitimate. It was the first major competitive multiplayer shooter on consoles. Halo was the first PC style shooter, which essentially played the same. Goldeneye was the COD on consoles before Halo or COD. It was a quick run n gun with a perk gun  (aka golden gun) duel wielding before Halo and more.

We all know what Goldeneye was and how big it was. No one here ever said Halo was the first legitimate shooter on consoles.

lol @ Goldeneye run and gun and "perk gun" and arena style maps. LOL. That's just adorable. So you never played Goldeneye? Ok.

Anyway this is getting off the topic of the OP so I'm not going to talk about Halo or Goldeneye any more.

Come on man, you don't really think people were buying PS3's for all the exclusives do you.

Resistance 2 - 2.38 m.

Resistance 3 - 1.33 m.

Killzone 2 - 2.9 m.

Killzone 3 - 2.5 m.

Infamous 1 - 2.66 m.

Infamous 2 - 1.6 m.

LBP2 - 2.98 m.

God of War Ascention - 1.49 m.

The Entire 1st Party Vita Library - under 4.6 million.

The only thing that sells decently is Uncharted at 6 million each which is Donkey Kong numbers. (Nintendos 15th best selling Wii Game).  If it was'nt for 3rd Party games Playstation 4 would'nt even exist right now.   Seriously Nintendo has 5 separate 3DS games outselling the entire 1st party Vita library and people act like anyone cares about what Sony puts out anymore.

Try those:

Gran Turismo 5 - 14.58M

Uncharted 2 - 6.27M

Uncharted 3 - 6.1M

Metal Gear Solid 4 - 5.81M

LBP - 5.26M

Uncharted 1 - 4.63M

God of War 3 - 4.6M

Resistance 1 - 4.19M

GT5 prologue - 4.13M

Motorstorm - 3.79M

The Last of Us - 3.69M

You know, its funny how you picked the games with lower sales, including always the lowest selling game on each franchise. I could do a list like that for Nintendo or MS only picking the worse and make them look bad to, couldn't I?

hey guys give him some slack, he is toastboy!

Based on the reception from the Media at E3. This game will meta above 95. It has had more praise than any game I can remember from media on preview since Mario 64.

Due to the hype up to launch from media and scores I expect this game to sell amazingly well. The gimped 360 version is no match for the Xbox One version. People will buy X1 for this game. Bigger levels, more players and much better visuals. This isn't like AC4. Its a vastly superior game on the One.
