Forums - Gaming - 12/7/13...The night the "dudebros" era in Gaming died.

VGX 2013 was so bad that it will be etched in our collective gamer memories forever.  Sometimes we get epic moments like Smash Bros reveals, Halo, God of War 3, Metal Gear 4, and tons of others, but tonight will mark the beginning of the end of the "dudebros" era.  Nintendo,Microsoft, and Sony fans argue about console specs, innovation, competitive gameplay, storylines, framerates, console bricking, and every other thing imaginable, but the one thing tonight proves is that we all want gaming to be about gaming.  Not bad jokes, not rap concerts, not celebrity hosts, not graphics/cutscene only trailers, not any of this dudebros garbage that these companies apparently think we want.    These companies (not all,but too many) just think gamers are idiots who will eat up anything with nice graphics and cool cutscenes, while SpikeTV clearly thinks that the dudebro is your average gamer now.  Excluding Indie titles, we were shown Donkey Kong, The Witcher, Destiny, and that Zombie PS4 game (name slips my mind).   Those gameplay previews combined lasted about 15 minutes on a 3 hour show!   The good news is that Nintendo,Microsoft, and Sony fans are all united for once in being pissed off.  Nintendo underwhelms, although alot of that should be blamed on the spoiler, Microsoft makes TItantall look meh, and Sony no shows. The Joel Banderes thing was very funny, but most people watching probebly did'nt know wtf that was.  Lets hope today is rock bottom guys, because we all deserve better.

Yeah. Who is Joel Banderes and who actually gives a shit about him?

It was an underwhelming show. Maybe next year we should not watch until after the show. Then they will realize what folly had occurred this year.

Also, I think that even without the spoiler, Cranky Kong still would have underwhelmed. I guess it would be fun to play him since he is old....but only in Smash. I care even less about him being playable in D

It would have, but for the big DKC fans, its a pretty cool thing.   Not as big as Mega Man in Smash Bros, no doubt but atleast Nintendo gave us something to chew on.   DK was wrong for the audience, but right in terms of business.  They will hype Smash and Kart plenty, but they need to make sure this game sells 1st.  The Wonderful 101 flopping as hard as it did, made a way bigger impact on Nintendo then the Wii U console sales. Consoles can be sold later, but the W101 lost them tons of money.
