For those who graduated from college or are about to, did going to college make you feel more or less intelligent?

For me, college was a humbling experience. You realize that there are a lot of experts out there that have a depth of knowledge in a particular area. You also learn that there's a lot breadth with so many subjects.

Going to college made me really realize that you can't know it all. A negative way of putting it is that I second guess myself all the time. A positive way of putting it is that I feel there's always room for improvement and learning, and that it's even more important to work with others because of your limitations.

Another thing that college made me realize was how inadequate my pre-college education was and how much bullshit there is out in the world. It's made me realize that I have a lot of catching up to do and to be careful about interpreting information out there.

Ofc its not necessary, but it increases your chances of being successful drastically.

While I'm in college right now I don't find it necessary to succeed in our world (Our world meaning Western countries).

Eh, to me that kind of brings me back to my point about how college is a humbling experience. Going to college makes you realize how little knowledge you have and ultimately makes you seek more knowledge out.

I feel like the people who say that college is unnecessary feel like they already have all the answers and to me that's just dangerous. I wouldn't want someone to lead a project when they think that they have nothing to learn. To me, that's just overconfidence and lack of critical thinking.

It is pretty much proven that college will make you think the average human is more intelligent than they are really. I felt college was humbling too, everyone seemed capable of deep thinking. Hell, it is a requirement to pass. It did not make me fell dumb, just that there are a lot of really smart people out there. Working only is not as fun as college and my coworkers are less fun, and intelligent.

College made me more informed on certain topics, but it didn't make me any more intelligent.
