x360 is 7 million consoles ahead of ps3 in Americas and is on pace to be over 8 million consoles ahead of ps3 in Americas at the end of this year

for ps3 to beat 360 in Americas, it has to start outselling 360 at some point and then catch up the 7-8+ million it is behind

it would take outselling 360 each week by 135k to catch up within 1 year, or 67k for 2 years or 34k for 3 years

right now, ps3 doesn't even sell 67k/week in a random week in February and 360 is almost outselling ps3 by that 34k/week number

also, a look at the Americas' chart for the consoles shows this as well

PS3 is crushing 360 in Japan and should pass it in Others soon, but I don't think they will be able to take down 360 in Americas this generation

Well, I guess if you have lost the last eleven weeks Worldwide, you'd need something to say good about your console.

The 360 does rule the PS3 in america at the moment but there are some big releases this year that'll help push the PS3 over in the US. Plus, the numbers youve chosen arent exactly representative of the overall picture in amerca. Yes the 360 outsells the PS3, but the 34K this week was in part due to the DMC4 release. Its been closer since the holiday season ended.

looks like ps3 has outsold 360 in Americas 2 or 3 weeks max

and at that expand of a year and a bit, look at what games came out on 360. (Halo, BioShock, Mass Effect), All AAA titles.

Compare with what WILL come out on PS3 next year (MGS, FFXIII).

Let's face it, PS3 has yet to have a true AAA title, while 360 had 3 AAA titles in US.

what exactly are you predicting here?  that ps3 will start outselling 360 in Americas consistently this year?  that it will outsell 360 in Americas for 2008? for 2009?  that ps3 will catch 360 in Americas at some point?  If so, when?

 I never said that the PS3 WASNT getting beaten in America, i wholeheartedly agreed with you. However, these numbers this week are skewed due to DMC4, and apparantly MS is experiencing hardware shortages again skewing the picture in the opposite way. However, since the holiday season has ended, the race has been alot closer in the US that MS would like, and with massive releases for the PS3 this year like MGS4, thePS3 will be gaining a lot of momentum in America.

It will stay in that order until the end of this generation. The PS3 will not catch XBox360 in the Americas.
