FFXIV ARR PS4 coming in April, beta test starts 22 Feb

During the PlayStation Awards 2013, it was confirmed that  FFXIV ARR PS4 is releasing on Sony‘s brand new console in April 2014. Japanese users will be able to beta test the game on the same day PlayStation 4 releases in Japan (22 February).

If you already own the PlayStation 3 version, don’t worry, as you’ll be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 one for free. However, it has been made clear that in this case, you would lose the rights to play the game on PlayStation 3, so be mindful of this before making your choice.

Still, it’s likely that the game will be better in every regard on the new console, and Square Enix also confirmed that Remote Play will be working with the game – you’ll never have to leave bed again to start crafting.

How are the subscriptions holding up for this game? SWTOR trajectory or much better?

Not as much as SWTOR when it launched but that game really trailed off after the first month or so. SE MMO's usually have a more dedicated fan base who stick with it as the years go by. This game has sold 1.45 million in it's first 2 months with over 600k subs and raising. This is more then FFXI had in it's peak year so very good news commercially and critically for SE on this game.  (Especailly since the original failed launch, they really turned it around.)

It is a pity that MS refused this game on X360 or X1 due to the restriction of cross platform play.

Exactly, some of the best players I have grouped with in FFXI were playing on X360 and I was on PS2.

Very well, and the game is excellent. 1.5 million last count.

Key here is to get some of the Japanese and Korean markets on this, they are surely the ones most interested. It will at least help a bit in Japan.

Hmm, pie.

Ongoing subs? Second month renewal etc?

Looks like I'll be buying my PS4 on the 22nd of February then.
