I actually didn't like Eminem when he first came out. He sounded like an annoying crybaby. Didn't even sound like rap to me, too pop. Some of his slower anthem tracks were good. He's actually grown on me as he matured. His new stuff with other artists is actually pretty good. They are more like fusions of genres. On his new album, These grew on me the most: "Berzerk",  "The Monster", "So Far..." These are OK: "Survival", "Ryhme Or Reason", "Beautiful Pain"

His first album was so far from pop. you should listen to it again. His first album was probably the most fresh, creative thing to hit rap since Wu-tang.

His new album is trash.

I just think he was trying too hard when he first came out. That song Slim Shady was so annoying to me because of his high pitch voice.  He was also so angry at his wife and mom. Made me cringe listening to his early days. Then kids started trying to imitate him which was the most annoying.

and WOW at that Survival video. Really trying hard to make videogames cool.

Not just that, it's a complete sellout. ACtivision paid him lots of money and he accepted. It's nothing more than that. What a joke.

Thing is, I know his early album was annoying, but that's because it was so different. It was played a million times because it was just that good. There's a ton of songs on there that are really alternative, like ROck Bottom, and Mushrooms. Listening to it, I was really floored that rap could be like that. Just rapping about ridiculous stuff, and stories. Most rap at the time was pussy, guns, ballas, dollas, with tons of one-liners. His shit was like a fun story.
