Some of the questions on this are ridiculous.

"Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races."

"All people have their rights, but it is better for all of us that different sorts of people should keep to their own kind."

My guess is if you say "Strongly Agree" to those, you're right wing. I'm not gonna even bother finishing this crap.

yep. its ridiculous. and question like its more important to keep inflation in check than keep unemployment down.

and their scale i just egregious. i mean look how they place people.

in reality, im about 7 cells to the right, 5 cells down.

Yea this whole thing is stupid.  Questions, and where they rank you/ other people seem random.

I was a couple down and a couple to the right.

its not random, just loaded, biased questions.

like sex outside of marriage, is immoral.

for me yes it is, but im not going to force people not to have sex. but clicking it will make you more authoritarian.

or the question about the are no savages, just different cultures. There are in fact savage. but again makes you authoritarian.

orIf economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.

what kind of question is that, they arent mutually exclusive. but again authoritarian

or the abortion question. being against abortion makes you an authoritarian. even though it is lock step with the libertarian principle of your rights end at the point you are harming another. So protecting a human life is considered authoritarian. ridiculous.

Obama's and Pope Benedict's placements confuse me.

That is their true placement. Obama is a conservative. He may have some liberal social values but he is first and foremost a conservative. Read their FAQ http://www.politicalcompass.org/faq

yeah sure he's a conservative. i guess if you start the scale in the middle, and leave out the entire left side.

by no definition of the word is he a conservative.

Obama is about as progressive as a piece of toast. He's progressive when compared to the likes of Mitt Romney, but only in social policy.

Also, anyone else think it's interesting that the people complaining generally fall on the side of the right?

economic policy?

expanding the welfare state, lengthening unemployement benefits. Socialized heathcare. increasing taxes on everybody, especially higher income earners. "spreading the weath around" he was a member of a communist party. increasing spending on everything, at a higher rate than anybody before him. him continually proping up business that the government seems worthy, especially of the "green" variety. most/all turning out to be economicall unsolvible.

These are all true. But he's still a conservative. Americans seem to have this very black and white view of politics. They seem to think you're either liberal or conservative, which is a load of crap. You can have some conservative values and still be liberal. You can have some liberal values, like Obama does, but still be a conservative.

The only true liberals to really run for president in the US in recent memory have been the likes of Jill Stein and Ralph Nader.

What do you consider yourself: Don't know. Don't really care either, since no label can accurately distill a person's overall perspective on the world.

Your political compass results:

Not really sure what it means but I'm happy that I finally have one image to represent my views.

In the rest of the world, conservatism can endore the wellfare state. Even in the 1960's, British conservatives loved the idea of a wellfare state. Obama also cut taxes for middle class families. I'd like to see this proof that Obama was a member of a communist party, even if he was, views can change.

Obama has kept troops in Afghan longer than he promised and is going to have them in there for much longer. He's increased drone strikes. He's pursued more whistleblowers than Bush did. He kept Guantanimo Bay open. He's kept the USA's hypocritical foreign policies against Cuba open. He's kept the US aggressive and hypocritical foreign policy and general going.

If he was progressive he would stop this ridiculous drug law which has been failling for decades.

He is not a progressive.

If Obama was the leader of any other developed country then he would be without any doubt be in a Conservative party. The Republican label that he is a liberal is to hide how similiar his policies are to the Republicans. Infact just look at the policies of Roland Regan and compare them to Obama, you'll be suprised.
