If Apple were to make a games console then they would definitely try to move in on Nintendo's casual gamer turf, rather than the hardcore gamer.

 Exactly, dispite the success of the Wii, the casual market is still relatively untapped, and Nintendo is still unable to even meet base demand for the Wii, so there's a great oppurtunity for Apple or someone to come in and compete in that market.
