Forums - Gaming - Reminder: PS4, Xbox One and Wii U are no longer "next-gen"

Ooooh, someone's trying to tell other people what to call things. Oooh!

Yup. Right. I predict little success here. Personally I'm probably going to call 7th gen consoles current gen until 8th gen consoles gain some more marketshare and probably until the sales of 7th gen consoles slow down considerably.

Also: What's the logic in deciding which gen is current gen and what is next gen? I'm asking only because I see none. If it's the first 8th gen console, this comes late. If it's the last, this is too early if you want to count Steambox in. If it's somewhere in between, I want a more precise definition. Personally I find it would be a decent definition to define the current gen as the gen that has x% of the marketshare in comparison to the other gen (or several, if need be). 50% perhaps? It's still not a precise definition but I feel it reflect reality more accurately and it's definitely more precise.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Wii U, PS4 and X1 will only be called current-gen once we see them on VGChartz's front page.

So I assume you will now be calling them current-gen? They're on the VGChartz front page right now.

I will call them what I want :P
