Like you know, you actually hack and slash in that game like you are supposed too, buy pressing simple buttons and get amazing on screen results again like you are supposed to.... If I want to play street fighter meets and RPG I play DMC or boyonetta but it ain't hack'n slash... That's for sure... so yeah people saying game play is boring are simply not hack'n slash true fans... Which is fine but don't try to spoil the fun for us by making all of them uber complex pile of crap (by hack'n slash standards of course)... I would give that game an 8 to 8.5 if it wasn't for 3 things... A little too easy and not spectacular enough on the biss fights (I'm in soldier mod).... Executions are limited to 2 simultaneous baddies max, and the biggest one is lack of variety in enemies... A bunch of dogs at least could have been added and more original variety... But all in all I'll give it a 7.5 to 8 average with no problem... and this leaves them with a solid base and room for improvement for future titles which is even better... A samurai one next... The only issue I can see with other era is that very few reach the level of self-righteousness and extravagance of the roman one... |
The ONLY thing that I have to say is wrong in this post is this "so yeah people saying game play is boring are simply not hack'n slash true fans" while I am a HUGE hack'n slash fan. I still feel the gameplay was dull. Being a hack'n slash fan doesn't mean that we just ignore something like that. I am a HUGE Dynasty warriors, Samurai Heros, Sengoku Basara etc fan(we are the real hack'n slash fans lol). And I know those games got the scores they deserved and along with the combat complaints, BUT that doesn't change the fact that I LOVE those games and will continue to love them, have funw itht hem and purchase them...
Also I had lots of fun with Ryse and I PRAY that they continue the series and just make improvements. It was a beautiul game, with a solid setting that has lots of potential if done right the next time around!

hmmm yeah but I don't categorise DW in the same sub category as a game like Ryse... those mass destruction action RPG hack'n slash.... love them too :)
was asking about them on new gen in the Xbox nation post a few days ago (if you know anything coming I'm interested)
ryse is more close to batman, AC etc kind of gameplay imo... but more focused on the combat.... I'd actually like to see comething closer to the free flow system of batman in the next ryse so you can do combo executions on more than 2 players...
personally I haven't found the gameplay dukk un ryse just that there is room for improvemen for sure.... nothing close to broken imo though... still very enjoyable for people looking for a trus hack'n slash
