I've walked into a couple stores around here lately and I've seen both PS4s and Xbox Ones on the shelf. I've also managed to get a Wii in 2006 easily despite it being "unavailable" till next year, I honestly think it's just blown out of proportion.

That doesn't make any kind of sense.

No company would launch a product and have zero stock coming in after launch.

1m on day one and likely another 500,000 or so will continue to be shipped over the rest of this year alone in NA.

It will likely remain scarce, but there is stock coming each week.

I call BS on this.

Maybe he was, but I had a similar experience in the same year. Ultimately I think persistance is the best course of action when liking for a scarce console, if you try enough stores you'll find one eventually (bear in mind that what little stock comes through is being bought by someone, you just need to make yourself one of those people)

I work at target aswell and we've already sold out of our second shipment (a measly 6 that we got randomly and lasted minutes) but we have 21 on the way.

Next shipment is for BlackFriday... so you can buy it but I expect it to sold out fast again.

I hope they mean all the ps4 shipments coming this year are already sold out.

It is not that they shipped 1 million and closed the factory for the rest of the year. Shipments will come.

I'll never be able to think of the words "Black Friday" the same way again.
