Forums - Sony - No PS4's for the rest of the year in North America

I don't plan on getting a ps4,until sometime next year, but I was asking around about them, just for fun. Gamestop said they don't expect any 2 come in this year, probably around march, but they were'nt sure. Best buy  and walmart were also sold out of PS4's. They had no idea at all when they were going to get some in. I asked those places, because I live close 2 those stores. I did'nt ask target are check online, but it's probably the same situation. This reminds of what happened to the wii. were they were all sold out at launch and they did'nt get any in,until the following year. I haven't even seen one single PS4 on the shelf,at any store. I just hope they get some in around the middle of next year, when I plan on getting one. My plan is 2 try to get one around e3 of next year. So,my question is what have other people being seeing and are you surprised bye this high demand?

Well, walmart lied to you because they are in their black friday ad so they are just sitting in their back room right now

As far as them not being available for the rest of the year? That is crap. There will be shipments, employees just either dont know when they will come in or arent allowed to tell. However, they wont be readily available until next year, meaning they wont stay on shelves for very long before they sell out until sometime next year.

I work at Target. The launch shipment was 39 PS4s. 8 were reserved (which I guess was the max Target did per store), and the rest sold out within an hour or so of the store opening. We did get two more in today, and I expect they'll be gone tomorrow. It's more likely that any shipment of PS4's will just be small as retailers try to get units to as many different stores as possible.

that makes more sense, about the employees not knowing. there's no way I would go shopping on black friday, even if I wanted a ps4 right now. I could'nt deal with that craziness.

There out there, seen some it different stores in Dallas and the suburbs, walmart, best buy and a target i went to had 2 on shelves. Theirs not a ton, but can be found if one looks around. Have a buddy who lives outside Denver Colorado a he got one yesterday at walmart there. said they had 3 in stock. walmart online says they have xbox ones in stock but yet went to 6 different one and none had them. they said the online website is wrong and is saying almost every walmart has them. same for the ps4 online says they don't have them but some do.

although i live in Denmark it is the same situation here... a few weeks ago however gamestop said all their stores in my country had been accepted for a smaller resupply. this however only applies to preorders that came in later and couldnt be guaranteed for nov 29th. everywhere i went there was absolutely zero chance of getting one untill next year without a preorder. i know this only because i searched the city several times trying to secure one.

(i did actually get a nov 29th guaranteed because some guy bailed on his order at the Sony store because they wanted full payment all of the sudden) :D

Yeah, especially walmart!  Freak, it is like they design their sales to instigate as much chaos and mayhem as possible!  Other black friday sales arent that bad, I actually really like the way best buy does it, everything is so organized...

but yeah, dont worry about there not being any ps4 shipments, as there will be shipments.  However, like any console launch the demand is much higher than supply, so they will be selling out rather quickly once they come in.  Supply probably wont catch up to demand until about the time you are looking to buy.

That's weird. What was SONY's plan, exactly? They've mentioned that they will do their best to meet demand and late March just sounds terribly late.

4 ≈ One

I doubt this. There will be PS4s getting through, Sony will not want shortages to stop their momentum and there is nothing to suggest that they have struggled to produce the amounts they will need. What may be muddying the waters as someone looking to simply go and buy one in a store is that many people who pre-ordered later will be getting their PS4s between now and christmas and so I suspect that many of the PS4s being shipped are going to these buyers rather than going on the shelves.

Wait a week or two, I suspect the situation will improve especially as they try to get stock on shelves in time for black friday

EDIT: Also don't take shipping dates from stores too seriously, they are usually placeholders and are put back as far as reasonably possible to avoid disappointment for buyers - usually they will ship before these dates
