Wheres Fallout 2, Mario Party, Sonic Adventure, StarCraft and Baldur's Gate?

A Dreamcast game?

Yes..?

Which nobody got to play until 1999 for obvious reasons?

Japan didn't get to play it?

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

10/10

Personal top 10:

1. Grim Fandango
2. Half-Life
3. Zelda OOT
4. Baldur's gate
5. Populous: the beginning
6. Metal gear solid
7. NFS 3: Hot pursuit
8. Thief
9. Unreal
10. Heart of darkness

1998 is by far and wide the best year in gaming ever. Unlikely (if not impossible) to ever be beaten.

It would be the only year I'd give a 10/10, because it includes the only game I'd give a 10/10. Also, most of my favorites of all-time were released in 1998. The year is the obvious winner in my Top 50 thread list with like double the entries of the next-best year, which is 1997.

Personally I'd add to that list at least on top of some others already posted:

That was a week before the new year... the Dreamcast had a terrible Japanese launch commercially as is. (the Saturn was still going strong there), even those who imported the console, there's no way anyone stateside would've gotten been able to get hold of the game.

Besides, by that logic, I would have to drop Pokemon out of the list considering they had it almost 3 years before anyone else.

Criminally neglected game. But fuck me, I could never figure out what to do on the last mission with the good lightning and always got my ass handed to me.

Ok, so we're going by when it came out in the US instead of debut year. You still missed Fallout 2, Starcraft and Baldurs Gate.

I fully admitted that I may be liable to miss some and that I was only giving a few examples. Everyone's free to post their own.

This was the year Thief, Baldur's Gate, Half Life, Rainbow Six, and Unreal came out also. PC gaming was so much better in the mid '90's to early 00's than it is now...This was a great year in gaming. 8.5 / 10
