The only thing I disagree with is starting with a 640p 30fps game. I could be wrong, but that feels quite rare for ps3. I'd say the average is 720p and 45fps

I like the way people agree and disagree with me, but again, I am aware of the inaccuracies and oversimplifications, but you'll be amazed by how much those things will turn to be "pretty darn close on the average in the long run". As Greenspan would put it, "I trust my intuition, my experience, my guts, damn it"... He was wrong only once in all of his office time spanning 3 presidents (4 or 5 terms)...
When I am doing those estimates, even when I don't use statistical estimations (which is rare), I still lean on my personal experience in the computer industry. Just being economy professor doesn't disqualify my programming background (no more), and history with computers from all the way back to Commodore 64 and Amiga 500.
Again, there are too much speculation for now, so I will let it hang in there, but I will update this thread with more fresh info later on.
We will see how the history will fold out. And yeah, hopefully the Steam Machines will carve a big hole in the wall as a standardized low-level and /or highly optimized PCs, which are compatible from one generation to another. This will also save us from the chains of Windows (MS Monopoly) and the complications of PC gaming. Best of both worlds, the neither... We'll see....
