2D sprites is simply unaccepted this generation. I don't care if it's background. It's ridiculous how they are skimping.

Same happend a lot in the last gen also. That's actually one of the great things about Nintendo. When you see the first footage of a new game you can easily bet on it that it will improve until launch day.

This is why it is best to at least wait for gameplay footage (Eurogamer's "next-gen now" series is good)

You can never really be sure how a game is going to look until you are actually playing it on your screen
