What the hell? I have to install EVERYTHING but can't see my available harddrive space? Ridiculous. This is a standard feature I'd expect if I intended to buy the console.

Welcome to...1995? (pretty sure the PS1 showed you the available space on your Memcard) or alternatively MS-DOS 1.0, Microsoft :/

I bet this is to cover up the large footprint the OS and everything else is taking from the original 500gb.

Not 50gig 500gig.  So if you installed every launch game on a X1 or PS4 could you hit the 500gig mark?

Let me give an example to illustrate why this is a ridiculous discussion. Working on a website for a client. It is a yearly subscription service. You know what we didnt add until about 11 months after the site launched? Wait for it. We didnt add the ability to renew the subscription. Such a key piece of functionality wasnt added until it was needed.
