Forums - Microsoft - Rolling Stone Xbox One review

I read the review and one thing I noticed was that they were talking about all the features you can use and not once did they mention the paywall that's required to use those features. This Rolling Stones review sounds more like a paid advertisement than a review. Praise almost everything about the system, lie about certain aspects of the system, and avoid mentioning a paywall, all to garner interest from the reader.

Well I guess it sucks for some and it's great for others... You can try to rewrite articles I, forums, and RS comment section, claim it's a paid ad or the journalist has been bribed or is biased.... Fact is RS is read by thousands and thousands of readers that won't go fact check or even care about those facts... This is the second uber positive review and no matter how it's written and/or how it should be written... The ball is rolling

I'm seeing some decent reviews but nothing else uber positive yet.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Rolling Stone and most Media outlets don't do any fact checking anymore. It is pathetic.

Its like dragging and strangling someone without even checking.

Reviews like the one from Rolling Stone fall under the "lifestyle" category, which generally means the reviewer is not a specialized industry insider; they review other things and write other articles that have nothing to do with gaming.

Regardless of being a respected publication, Rolling Stone is not where anyone who knows games goes to for opinions and reviews on game related products.

At any rate, the review is practically irrelevant other than to represent Rolling Stone's opinion regarding the XB1. Anyone who actually takes it seriously may as well be reading their reviews in Maxim, Details or even Better Homes and Gardens.

100% agree with what you say except that most people buying a console are not true gamers and don't get their opinion in specialized press... so those kind of reviews are extremely relevent... heck oprah and ellen degenerese opinion are probably more important to MS and Sony than the one of IGN....

Nice read. And apparently the games look so impressive that the reviewer thought they were 1080p60. Flawless victory.

"Microsoft's most impressive exclusive launch titles are Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3, which all run in 1080p at 60 frames per second."

"Xbox One games now look like high-end PC games"

Both completely false. Also,

"Beyond the games available for PS4's launch – a list which includes heavy-hitters like Battlefiled 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed 4, FIFA 2014 and NBA 2K14"

Not even going to list one PS4 exclusive? Really? This review is written by a fanboy full of false statements. No one is taking this seriously right? Even Xbox fans can't take this review seriously.

why would an Xbox One review mention a PS4 exclusive? Did anyone mention X1 exclusives on ps4 reviews? That just seems a bit silly to expect, not to mention to get angry at.

Well that was an embarrassing read.

Great review!

LoL at PS fans @ MS forums even 5 days after the launch of the PS4.
PLAY THAT DAMN THING

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
