wonder how many of them were/are fanboys from the other side trying to finance their favourite console with that kind of speculation?

I guess many of those are now bashing ps4 on Amazon and will bash xbox1 after release as verified purchasers.

Never thought of this.  Xbox One fans with no intention of opening their PS4 could be leaving reviews as verified purchasers that are selling their console on Craigslist.  They feel better about their console and they're able to damage the reputation of the PS4.

I went on Facebook yesterday and the top comments on an Xbox post were all pro playstation, and that's usually the case.

Actually it was a pic of Xbox consoles sitting in a warehouse posted by Amazon. The #1 comment (most thumbs up) was "I prefer blue boxes" (A reference to PS4 box). The 2nd most thumbsed up comment was "for those who prefer 720P/30 to 1080P/60" (even though Ps4 actually has no 1080P/60 games that I know of, while Xbox One has Forza 5)

To the OP, PS4 actually has not been fetching much profit on ebay. That's why I canceled my 6 PS4 preorders.

I figured up that after tax and ebay's cut, $500 is the break even point on a PS4. It seemed at most they tended to fetch around $600. And often even less. Not really worth it. And there is risk of losing your whole cost of a PS4 if a transaction goes bad.

I may have been able to make some money, maybe it was a bad decision?

It seems about similar for Xbox One. Maybe $100 profit? The break even point on a X1 is $620 and they seem to be selling for $720 today.

I think there are way less X1's for sale. I'm not sure if it's less stock or, more likely, people expected the PS4 to do much better (it's 100 cheaper) so there were way more PS4 scalpers.

Sigh... It's an absolute inevitability, I know that, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed in both the sellers and the buyers - the former for being exploititive and the latter for being so impatient and desperate - given that these consoles will be current for years to come, is it that difficult to wait just a little longer?

You know what they say:

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
