Forums - Nintendo - "Hardcore Gamers": Nintendo Directs >>> 30 Seconds Commercials.

Really fellow gamers, you have been critizicing Nintendo lately because of the audience their commercials are targeting. You got to take two things in consideration:

1.) Nintendo games appeal to everyone, and 2.) it is easier to bring the family/kids to gaming that spending money to fill the needs of every "hardcore gamer". Sometimes not even the "hardcore gamers" know what they reallly want.

Moving on.

You know the monthly Nintendo Directs with new several minutes EPIC gameplay trailers like the october 1st Super Mario 3D World trailer or the 6 minutes Super Mario 3D World Super trailer, are much much much better than the 30 seconds commercials that not only have to sell the game but also the console.

Yes, I agree with you. Nintendo hasn't been doing any job adevertising the Wii U since launch. But I have to say that NINTENDO DIRECTS are even better than E3 during the whole year since the January 23rd Direct. I know you remember the revealing trailer of X from Monolith Soft. I know you do.

Well, not sure if the Wii U can pick up. It is getting really hard specially with the PS4 selling really well and the XBOX ONE just at the next corner. Lets see what happen. Keep gaming fellow gamers.

Around the Network

No, nintendo games to not appeal to everyone, not even close. No game appeals to everyone who ever believes that a game can appeal to everyone is just out of touch with reality.

another point is that nintendo directs have been an epic failure when it comes to marketing for nintendo. they are in no way better than E3 and this E3 of all proved that.

also, not sure what this thread is really about. im assuming its about Nintendo Directs being a good way of marketing?

Nintendo directly only really target Nintendo audience. Most people don't watch them, one reason being they are announced last minute.

General gaming public need advertising bombarded directly in their faces as they don't go looking for info they need it in their path.

The only people who watch Nintendo Direct are people who own Nintendo consoles or plan to own one eventually. They might be useful for creating hype for upcoming software relative to that audience but they do nothing to entice the average consumer. They aren't effective as console advertisements.
