What do you think Sony would do in that situation when they said specifially they couldn't let that happen?

You are going to start some nerd rage and I am going to enjoy every bit of it...

But if it was, they would probably close their doors since playstation is basically the only department that makes any money...

If they couldn't let that happen it means that they can't afford a failure.

If it failed I think they would drop out of the console bussines.

It could be the end of Sony altogether because a lot of things are riding on the success of the PS4 because that division its almost the only profitable one the company has atm.

If it would fail it'd be the end of Sony consoles. The company itself is probably to big to fall over.
Would be interesting for the market though. Might give others the opportunity to come back.
