So, everyone knows a primary sku launch ps3 was $600. Now, I got my wii in janurary of 07. Here's what I got for the price of one ps3 (roughly):

wii + wii sports + nunchuk + wii remote = $250

zelda + sonic and the secret rings + rayman raving rabbids + elebits (all games purchased between january and march 07)= $200

2nd wii remote + 2nd nuchuk + classic controller = $80

then eb had a sale over the summer, trade in any 2 used wii games, get one new wii game free....
so, i did a fire sale and picked up trauma center and paper mario = $0

I picked up a launch copy of mario galaxy but did so at toysrus. the store had a deal where people who bought launch copies of the game would get a $25 gift card = $50

then, around thanksgiving (after only being out 6 weeks), best buy had a week long sale where power pros baseball dropped from $40 to $20 = $20

zack and wiki dropped from $40 to $30 at toys r us. Using my gift card, i got the game for $5

250 + 200 + 80 + 50 + 20 + 5 = $605 dollars.

Anyone else got a money saving tale to tell
(note: including wii sports, that's 6 third party games, to 4 first party games)

A good money saving tale?  Hmmm....I bought a ps3 at launch for $600.  Sold it on ebay for a little over $1400 the next day...made almost exactly $800 profit after expenses and shipping, turned around bought another ps3 to keep and had $200 leftover.  PS3 didn't cost me shit.

Got it for free and made $200....so thank you ps3.

I can beat that: I got two free PS3's.  One used 80gig from trading in a crapload of DVD's and a free new 40gig from work so in the end I made about $400 since I kept the 80gig.

And as for my Wii story, I suppose I'm about the same as everyone else.  I got a Wii, accessories, and a lot of games for under $600.  What else is there to say?

^well...that's not rlly "free" cause u had to trade in ur DVDs. Free means getting for NOTHING

So the general concensus here shows that you save more money by getting a ps3?

my Wii story is also about the same, spent around $450 with all the wii motes and nunchucks, plus a few games.

I spent around $200 something for my ps3, Got the discount by buying an HDTV.
though if I bought the HDTV now, I would have gotten the ps3 free

Well save money in the sense it was given to me and got by giving something away (DVD's).  I do admit, if everyone could get a PS3 for free then by all means they should.
