If Nintendo can't get big, compelling games out quickly and consistently in 2014 he may yet be right. It's not unprecedented for Nintendo home consoles to struggle to break out of a niche market and people need to remember that Wii U's struggles are so far worse than anything GameCube or N64 went through in their debut years.
While I believe IF Nintendo get enough software out quickly, they can turn Wii U into a modestly successful machine, I also realise that this window is closing all the time and that Wii U could be relegated to a GameCube style niche. They've got a huge amount wrong since the glory days of Wii/DS, and while they did turn 3DS around, there's no guarantee they have enough manpower to turn Wii U around quickly enough to make a substantial difference. I sincerely hope they do, but people need to be more willing to admit just how badly wrong Wii U has gone so far and that this does impact any chance of Wii U finding a larger market than the GameCube.
