Wow, is this what companys have to do now to sell their platform?

Semi-confirmed now. qauz51 who is one of the few verified pixel counters on the web says PS4 COD single player is 720P, MP is 1080P (with unstable framerate).

Wow if true. A real heavy blow to the PS4 and any differences, and some vindication for Major Nelson/Penello.

He hinted to three threories...

- Activision has been lying for some unknown reason about the PS4 version's resolution.
- Gaming reviewers have been stupidly ignoring this.
- The direct feed capture equipment could have been set to 720p and 60fps as opposed to 1080p and 30 fps, to capture the framerate feel. Maybe video capturing equipment owners can shed a light on this.

I can't see why Activision will lie for one hardware and not for another... and the Elgato used by most reviewers didn't capture in 1080p@60fps... this third theory have a good chance.

I am guessing it's just as Quaz said, 720 SP 1080 MP.

The capture equipment excuse seems unlikely as it's never been an issue before and nobody seems to verify it.

It wouldn't be lying by Acti because werent they reffering to multi when they said 1080? Either way they can just say they meant Multi and avoid too much blame. They only half lied at best.

More by Quaz

>>Multi is graphically more light than Solo (FX, post-process) = more ressource aviable.
Probably not enough for upgrade resolution on Xone (just enough for stabilise framerate) but for PS4 yes. the good compromise probably was a 900p upgrade for preserve the framerate but 900p need upscale with bad ratio, is tantalizing to push until 1080p for avoid upscale and offer a perfectly sharp image >>

Digital Foundry didn't use Elgato because it doesn't capture 1080p at 60fps... most reviewers use it because 1) few games execptions were 1080p@60fps 2) YouTube and players are 30fps.

If the capture was made in 720p then the SP videos will show 720p... he is making pixel count... so he will get 720p.

I asked yesterday why they are using 720p output for PS4.

But nobody replied to me

So you saw the rumor earlier than most but didn't post it ?

Son, you disappoint

Son, you disapoint

It was not a rumor that time... it was a solo post in Beyond3D with the pixel count about TheSixthAxis video capture... the thing scalled fast while I was sleeping

quaz said ign captiured in 1080i, but he can still confirm the game is 720p.

quaz can even tell what res they captured in i guess.

Quick test : what resolution is this ?
